Burning down the house on 'True Blood'Chaos ensued this week after Antonia's vampire minions descended on the crowd at the Tolerance Hoedown with the sole purpose of killing Bill. When it looked like Eric might actually do it, Sookie zapped him with a double shot of her fairy fists of fury. She not only saved Bill, but reversed both the spells Eric was under. So, huzzah! Eric's back. Celebrate accordingly. 'True Blood's' turmoil goes publicWow, a whole bunch of stuff happened this week, huh? Sookie survived the graveyard battle royal and went on to have a dumb dream where she wore sexy lingerie, told Bill and Eric she loved both of them and then they had a sort-of threesome. Yawn. After the dustup, the witches gathered for a post mortem at Moon Goddess. Holly and Tara voiced their objections to Antonia's antics. Antonia then unleashed the crazy and announced that with Eric now under her command, she planned to raise hell at the upcoming vampire PR event, the Tolerance Jamboree. The battle for Bon Temps begins on ‘True Blood’Did you lose sleep over the past week fretting over who would survive Antonia’s summoning spell? The good news: everybody who matters made it. The bad news: there’s one less advocate of muumuus and sponge curlers in the world, so pour one out and let’s do this thang. To Antonia's great dismay, the lone casualty of her spell was Beulah Carter, Maxine's neighbor and the aforementioned connoisseur of comfortable loungewear. 'True Blood' prepares to do battleThe second half of the season kicked off last night and as the battle between the vampires and witches began to heat up, the episode's message was loud and clear: It's on. Antonia, having fully settled into Casa Marnie, escaped from vamper jail with the help of a bewitched Luis. He later tried to kill Bill at Antonia's behest and failed, but not before he passed along her message that amounted to simply this: The bitch is back. 'True Blood's' full moon fever[Editor's Note: This post contains spoilers for the July 31 episode of HBO’S “True Blood."] Well, it happened: Sookie and Eric finally did it. But before we talk about the sexiest sex that was ever had, let's hash through some other stuff. Bill found Eric at Sookie's place just as the two were rounding second base. A bit of snarly fang bearing ensued, but Eric surrendered upon hearing that Bill was his king. Sookie pleaded with Bill to spare Eric, saying that if he ever loved her, he would let him go. Later, Nan signed off on Bill’s suggestion to sentence Eric to the true death, so it seemed as if Sookie’s plea would go unanswered. 'True Blood' casts a powerful spell[Editor's Note: This post contains spoilers for the July 24 episode of "True Blood."] Confession: I’m always leery whenever the “True Blood” writers start killing off characters. At first I’m all, “God, finally! It’s about time,” but then I’m all, “Ugh. Cue the ‘vacancy’ sign.” And y’all, that’s exactly what happened this week. We said goodbye to 2/3 of the Mickens clan after Tommy fought back against Joe Lee, killing him and accidentally killing Melinda in the process. Hysterical, he reached out to Sam, who helped get rid of the bodies and tried to allay Tommy’s fears about any karmic retribution that might come his way. We also learned a couple of valuable lessons from this scene. If your good-for-nothing parents force you to use your supernatural powers to participate in an illegal dog-fighting ring, then yes, it’s perfectly fine to kill them and dispose of their bodies in a swamp. Also, should you find yourself in the murky wilds of Louisiana this summer, don’t forget the marshmallows. Alligators love marshmallows. |
