Lindsay Lohan gets a job

It seemed for awhile that people were loathe to hire Lindsay Lohan. Her exploits have been well documented. In this business, if you can't complete the job you were hired to do, then people move on, no matter how popular you may have been.

There's no doubt, Lohan was on a hot streak for awhile. Her first film role was 1998's "The Parent Trap," she was lauded for her role in "Mean Girls," and also starred in "Freaky Friday" and "Herbie: Fully Loaded." Several years ago, "fully loaded" took on a whole different meaning when she was busted for DUIs and subsequently hit rehab.

But perhaps Lindsay Lohan isn't quite finished. Today, there's news that she's been hired. A position has been created for her at the House of Ungaro. The title?  Artistic advisor. You may wonder what exactly an artistic advisor does. According to Ungaro,  Lohan is "collaborating on the Spring/Summer 2010 runway collection unveiling on October 4, 2009 during Paris Fashion Week."  She'll be working with newly named Chief Designer Estrella Archs.

Mounir Moufarrige, the President of Emanuel Ungaro worldwide, says  “Mr. Ungaro’s success was based on his genius for design and his controversial eye to whom his consumer was.  Lindsay is a world consumer with a clear eye for fashion.”

Lohan is no stranger to fashion, having launched a line of leggings, but do you think she's ready for the fashion big time?

Miley Cyrus fans have a chance to be her "roadie for a day." The popular "Hannah Montana" star is auctioning off that honor as well as outfits she's worn at premieres, on movie sets and for the cover of US Weekly's Power Girls cover.

All of the proceeds will benefit her family charity, The Pappy Cyrus Foundation, named after her grandfather. The foundation supports children's causes and programs.

The charity auction on ebay starts tonight at 7pm ET and runs though August 13th at www.ebay.com/miley .

The actor-singer-author has been busy. She just wrapped up filming on "The Last Song" and her 45 city tour starts September 14th in Portland Oregon.

Michael Jackson's hair: A real gem?

At first I thought it had to be a joke: making diamonds from the DNA of Michael Jackson? Following his recent death, entrepreneurs rushed to get unauthorized biographies, memorabilia and other Jackson-themed items to market. But diamonds from DNA? It sounded macabre.

jackson

Apparently, it's possible.  LifeGem "specializes in creating diamonds from locks of hair," and according to founder Dean VandenBiesen, the company plans "to give people an opportunity to own a diamond made from Michael Jackson's DNA."

You may wonder how they came to possess Jackson's DNA. Remember the Pepsi commercial, and the excruciating video where Jackson's hair catches fire and crew members surround him and snuff out the flames?  Executive Producer Ralph Cohen apparently used his Armani jacket to extinguish the fire, and subsequently picked up a lock of the famous charred hair off the ground.  Both the jacket and the hair were sold to John Reznikoff. He collects hair. He counts follicles from Abraham Lincoln, John F. Kennedy, Albert Einstein and Marilyn Monroe in his collection. Reznikoff is keeping some of Jackson's hair; the other portion is being used by LifeGems to create the Michael Jackson diamonds.

The company "anticipates great interest" and says this will be a "limited collection."  Perhaps I'm limited in my imagination, but the thought of owning a diamond made from Michael Jackson's DNA has very little appeal.

Would you buy one?

Beastie Boy Diagnosed with Cancer

Beastie fans will have to wait a bit.  The group has canceled their tour dates after Adam "MCA" Yauch was found to have a cancerous tumor. According to the band's publicist, the tumor is in his left salivary gland, is localized and considered treatable. He'll undergo surgery and require additional treatment.  As a result, the Beastie Boys have canceled their scheduled concert appearances and have pushed back the release of their album "Hot Sauce Committee Part 1."

Yauch addressed the diagnosis on www.Beastieboys.com saying "I just need to take a little time to get this in check, and then we'll release the record and play some shows. It's a pain in the neck (sorry had to say it) because I was really looking forward to playing these shows, but the doctors have made it clear that this is not the kind of thing that can be put aside to deal with later."

EMI released this statement following the news:  "Our thoughts, love and prayers are with Adam Yauch, his family and the Beastie Boys. The most important thing is to allow Adam to focus on staying healthy. We wish him all the best and a speedy recovery."

Gov. Palin to Letterman: I Accept

Provided to CNN by Meghan Stapleton, Spokesperson for Gov. Sarah Palin:

Governor's reaction regarding Letterman's apology:

"Of course it's accepted on behalf of young women, like my daughters, who hope men who 'joke' about public displays of sexual exploitation of girls will soon evolve. Letterman certainly has the right to 'joke' about whatever he wants to, and thankfully we have the right to express our reaction. And this is all thanks to our U.S. Military women and men putting their lives on the line for us to secure America's Right to Free Speech – in this case, may that right be used to promote equality and respect."

–Governor Sarah Palin
