How a little black Oscars dress went green

Of all the outfits that will be worn on the Oscars red carpet Sunday, the one Missi Pyle will be wearing may arguably become one of the most influential. That's because the chic little number could set a new eco-friendly trend.

The gown is the winner of the third annual Red Carpet Green Dress design contest, a competition dreamed up by Suzy Amis Cameron (the wife of "Avatar" and "Titanic" director James Cameron), an ardent environmentalist.

Pyle, who co-stars in the best picture nominee “The Artist,” told CNN she committed to wearing the gown even before seeing the finished version.

The things you learn at an Oscars luncheon.

For starters, George Clooney is the friend you want to have in your corner when you need a swanky honeymoon spot.

Melissa Etheridge: Komen decision would have cost lives

The Susan G. Komen Foundation has reversed its decision to cut off funding for some of its projects with Planned Parenthood, a move that undoubtedly has lifted the spirits of Melissa Etheridge.

The singer was just one of many who reacted strongly to the news that Komen, a non-profit that’s raised millions to fight breast cancer, had decided to withdraw funding for breast cancer screenings at Planned Parenthood locations.

Not only is he an actor with TV shows to his credit (“Unforgettable,” “Pan Am”), TV commercials (Geico and AT&T), but he’s a budding polyglot. He speaks Chinese - fluently. And Russian - fluently.

In the 26 years since Paul Simon released “Graceland,” his album has secured its place in music history. It’s considered by many to be one of the greatest records of all time.

Oprah Winfrey would not disagree.

Jeff Probst directing feature film

Jeff Probst is looking for a few good men and women - not to compete on “Survivor," but to star in a film he’s directing.

The reality TV show host is currently casting for a movie called "Kiss Me," a feature film he plans to begin shooting in Los Angeles next month. He’s already lined up John Corbett (“Sex and the City”, “My Big Fat Greek Wedding”) to play one role, and 20-year-old Irish actress Sarah Bolger (“In America”) to play the lead.

The film is described as a coming of age story that follows a girl “through the physical and emotional growing pains of her teen years.”
