Trailer Park: Welcome to i-TrailerIt’s not often that big changes happen in the movie trailer community, so you can imagine my surprise and delight when I received an e-mail this week introducing me to “i-Trailer.” Developed by Mark Woollen and Associates and launched this week, i-Trailer is an interactive trailer viewing platform for those who enjoy watching movie trailers online. By clicking at various places on your screen while the trailer is playing, you launch multiple fact boxes about the film including tidbits on music, wardrobe and costuming choices, shooting locations, themes… the list goes on and on. In a recent phone conversation with Mark Woollen, I learned that it took his team 6 to 9 months to develop the concept, choose which features they wanted to include and create what they consider to be an easy-to-use model. Woollen says his goal with this new application is to allow audiences to engage with a film’s trailer for more than two minutes and says there are many places for this technology to go in the future, including audience prizes. The very first i-Trailer is actually for a film I’ve already featured in my Trailer Park segment - “Sex and the City 2” - but revisiting the popular title is hardly a sacrifice considering how much fun people may have trying out i-Trailer. I can’t wait to hear what you think! Trailer Park: 'Jonah Hex,' 'Secretariat' and 'Splice'
Last summer’s action adventure film featuring a scantily clad Megan Fox was “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.” This summer’s action adventure film featuring a scantily clad Megan Fox is “Jonah Hex.” Josh Brolin plays the title character, a scarred bounty hunter who makes a deal with the law - his freedom in exchange for hunting down a massively dangerous terrorist. Hex is incredibly tortured with a sweet tooth for revenge and doesn’t get close to anyone except a prostitute named Leila (played by Fox). The bad guy in this one is John Malkovich, who, coincidentally, has been added to the cast of “Transformers 3." “Jonah Hex” hits theaters June 18. This week’s Trailer Park takes a look at the latest from “The Last Airbender,” the new “Twilight Saga” adventure and a gay rights documentary sure to upset at least one religious organization. Not too long ago I was covering the red carpet at the Nickelodeon Kid’s Choice Awards. While there, I interviewed famed “The Sixth Sense” director, M. Night Shyamalan who could not be more excited about his upcoming summer release, “The Last Airbender.” The film stars “Twilight” co-star Jackson Rathbone and “Slumdog Millionaire’s” Dev Patel. It's based on the popular animated television series about a fictitious world where humans can control the various elements: fire, earth, water and air. According to Shyamalan, fans are going to be blown away by the special effects in the film, which will be shown in 3-D where available. The movie doesn’t come out until July 2, but multiple trailers are available now to whet your palate. FULL POST Trailer Park: Tom Cruise, WWII and 'Beastly'
Hi Trailer Park fans! In this week’s rundown we take a look at the new Tom Cruise movie, a film about a World War II hero and the new spin on a classic tale - that may or may not impress fans. For good or for bad, Tom Cruise’s new movie trailer for “Knight and Day” reunites fans with 100 percent classic Tom Cruise. From the very first words out of his mouth to co-star Cameron Diaz - “Boston? Gate 12” - all the trademark characteristics of a Cruise movie are there. There's the swagger, the charm... the clever cinematography to make him appear to be as tall as his much taller leading lady. FULL POST Trailer Park: Male comedic duos hit the big screen
Every now and then a couple of trailers come out at the same time that seem to share a common theme. This week, two such videos grabbed my attention. Both are for movies that hope to entertain fans with the bumbling antics of a mismatched male comedic duo. First, there’s Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg in “The Other Guys.” The A-list pair stars as unlikely New York detectives determined to mimic the heroism and machismo of another, much more revered, NYPD duo played by Samuel L. Jackson and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. A highlight for me came during one moment in the trailer when Wahlberg simply can’t believe that Will Ferrell’s character is married to Eva Mendes. The other film is called “Dinner for Schmucks.” It stars Steve Carell and Paul Rudd and is directed by “Meet the Parents” and “Austin Powers” director, Jay Roach. Hey movie trailer fans! Welcome back to the Trailer Park. It was interesting to see that last week’s reader comments were all about Angelina Jolie. Folks definitely have an opinion about the would-be Mrs. Pitt! Now, let’s see if there’s as much reaction to another beautiful leading actress from Hollywood’s elite. Warner Bros. has released the second trailer for their hotly anticipated sequel, “Sex and the City 2,” starring Sarah Jessica Parker. Is it just me or are these four TV-stars turned silver-screen-sirens completely ageless? I mean, all four of them - SJP, Kim Cattrall, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis look as gorgeous and fresh as they did back in 1998 when the original “Sex and the City” debuted on HBO. In the film, two years has passed since the last time we caught up with New York’s fab four and the girls are dealing with marriage, parenthood and a whole lot of temptation - Carrie’s other great love, “Aidan,” is back in the picture.
