Cam picks up a woman on 'Modern Family'Yes, you read that headline correctly. It seems that Cam (VIP of the week) is convinced that if he were straight, he and Julia Roberts would be dating. After a waitress on the hunt for tips got flirtatious with him (the "drink-a-doodle-doo" was a dead giveaway to his sexuality, said Mitchell), he wanted to prove to Mitchell that he could pick up a woman. At first, things seemed to be going well with a woman he met at a bar (played by the wonderful Leslie Mann, best known for "Knocked Up"). A time of change for 'Covert Affairs'Our little summer obsession is back in the fall. "Covert Affairs" returned on Tuesday with an incredible chase in Venice - where Annie lost an important package - before jumping right into a new mission. This one, involving a chef she's been flirtatious with who also has ties to a Basque separatist group, was one of the more interesting missions so far this season. A turning point for Shane on 'The Walking Dead'Sunday night's episode of "The Walking Dead" featured plenty of zombies in the first 15 minutes, for those who have been complaining that so far this season we're not seeing enough of them. It didn't quite pick up where we left off, with Shane and Otis (the man who accidentally shot Carl) cornered at a high school by a mob of walkers. Instead, we got Shane shaving his head in the bathroom, which might have been seen as a flashback if only because we've started with flashbacks in each episode this season. But then, it was a head shaving scene, so maybe not. All would be revealed in time as Shane and Otis continued to fight off the horde and attempted to get vital medical supplies back to Carl, whose condition continued to worsen. 'Grimm' a genre hybrid that doesn't quite workOn Friday's series premiere of "Grimm," we were introduced to our second take on fairy tales in less than a week's time, this one a little more of a police procedural. Nick Burkhardt is a detective who suddenly finds himself having inherited the power to see certain people's "true selves": creatures from Grimm fairy tales. This first episode saw him pursuing a monstrous predator who went after women and young girls wearing red (gee, I wonder which fairy tale that's about?). A 'boo' battle on 'Big Bang Theory'Thursday night's "Big Bang Theory" saw Sheldon getting the "Bazinga" scared out of him by the rest of the guys (though at first he was unimpressed: "'See you in hell Sheldon.' The most frightening thing about that is the missing comma"). He schemed through the rest of the episode about how to (mostly, unsuccessfully) get his revenge. Even Bernadette took part to foil Sheldon's plans, playing along with Howard, pretending to need medical attention, and Raj wasn't frightened at all when he found a snake in his drawer. 'Beavis and Butt-head' back to their old tricksIf you expected anything new or innovative about the resurrected "Beavis and Butt-head" on Thursday night, you would be sorely disappointed. One thing the dim-witted pair always did well was react to popular culture in their own way, and the premiere saw them attempting to take advantage of the "Twilight" craze, and poking fun at "Jersey Shore." True to form, their idea of trying to "score chicks" who were obsessed with "Twilight" was to pay a homeless man to bite them so they might turn into werewolves. Instead they ended up in the hospital (which meant they were attended to by female nurses, so to them the plan was a success). |
