A walk down Oprah's generosity lane

The Hearst and Harpo job boards have undoubtedly gotten a workout since news broke yesterday that Oprah Winfrey had given her magazine staff perhaps one of the best gifts a boss can give these days: iPads, leather carrying cases, and – clearly the best part of the present – checks for $10,000.

While that kind of generosity is jaw-dropping in an economy where just holding onto a job can be difficult, let alone getting a tidy lump sum from the boss, Winfrey’s staff is likely used to it.

Back in 2005, Winfrey unloaded checks for $5,000 on her magazine staff to celebrate what was then the publication’s 5th anniversary. That same year, Winfrey took her staff on an all-expenses paid trip to Hawaii, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

Casting Chronicles: Stanley Tucci joins 'Captain America'

Fresh off his lauded turns in "The Lovely Bones" and "Julie and Julia," Stanley Tucci has signed up to play "Captain America's" creator, Dr. Abraham Erskine. Tucci joins Chris Evans, who plays the "Captain," and "Gossip Girl's" Sebastian Stan. The first film in the franchise will open next July.

Paul Rudd’s comedy “My Idiot Brother” filled in some female leads this week: Zooey Deschanel, Rashida Jones, Emily Mortimer and Elizabeth Banks have all signed on to the film.

Rudd's character is an idealist with an overbearing mom who intermittently stays at the homes of his three ambitious sisters, somehow simultaneously spreading joy and havoc in the lives of his siblings. Mortimer, Banks and Deschanel will star as his sisters, and Jones will play the girlfriend of Deschanel’s bisexual character.

M.I.A. tweets NYT writer's phone number

M.I.A. has no qualms about using Twitter to express her distaste, and this time she aimed and fired at NYT Magazine contributor Lynn Hirschberg.

The artist –- who made headlines in April with a violent video for “Born Free” –- doesn't appear to care for the feature Hirschberg wrote about her for the publication. She tweeted the reporter’s phone number to her thousands of followers Thursday.

Her tweet read, “CALL ME IF YOU WANNA TALK TO ME ABOUT THE N Y T TRUTH ISSUE, ill b taking calls all day [expletive] ;),” which of course caused Hirschberg’s phone to blow up with callers expecting to get in touch with the music artist.

Jesse James: I was trying to self-sabotage

The implosion of Jesse James’ marriage to Sandra Bullock played out in the media for weeks, but everyone could only dance around the essential plot point: Did Jesse James actually cheat? Now, we all have the answer.

When ABC News correspondent Vicki Mabrey asked James during the "Nightline" interview Tuesday if he cheated on Bullock, he only had one thing to say: “Yup.”

So yes, he did cheat, but with how many women? James wouldn't confirm the allegations that he broke his vows with all five women who have described themselves as his mistresses, because to him, the number itself doesn’t really matter. “It could’ve been a million,” he told Mabrey in the interview. “Bad is bad….It’s just that I took a perfect marriage, a perfect wife, a perfect life, a perfect stepmother and threw it away with my actions.”
