Prince killed it on 'New Girl'

The event was probably as highly anticipated as the Super Bowl.

The elusive artist formerly known and now still known as Prince made a guest appearance on Fox's "New Girl" and it was everything we had hoped for. The singer is reportedly a huge fan of the show and producers cashed in on the Super Bowl lead in to feature him. Do not read the following if you have not seen the episode yet as it contains spoilers.

Zooey Deschanel character Jess is heading off to a party at Prince's mansion, but before she goes, roomie Nick blurts out that he loves her – to which Jess responds with the dreaded "pow pow" finger guns (ugghhh, we hurt for him in that moment). That sets Nick scampering after her to Prince's house to take back the "I love you."

Of course comedy ensues, Jess faints, Prince shows up and Nick faints. Actually, when Prince appeared we almost fainted even though we knew it was coming. Anyway, we won't give you all the deets but there was a makeover, Prince proved he can pull off comedy, ate some pancakes, sang his newest song “Don’t You Wanna Fall in Love Tonight?” and helped strengthen a love connection.

In his review, critic Alan Sepinwall from HitFix notes that "Sitcom episodes designed to suck up to the visiting musician can be a dicey proposition, but "Prince" worked because the man is both a legend and an eccentric, and no story about him sounds too outlandish."

The show did well for Fox as one of their execs tweeted the good ratings news.

Did you catch the Purple One on "New Girl?" If so, what did you think?

'New Girl': Nick's moving day

Will he or won’t he?

That was the question Tuesday as we waited to see whether Nick would go through with moving in with Caroline in "New Girl's" season 1 finale.

Jess, Winston and Schmidt weren’t taking the proposed move very well, but despite that, the roomies put up a Craigslist ad for Nick’s room and found some weird guy named Neil.

Fox's "New Girl" has not only become one of this season's success stories, but it's also introduced a character that has, in some ways unexpectedly, become one of the most talked about of the year.

Of course, we're speaking of none other than Schmidt, as played by Max Greenfield.

This first season, which wraps up with its finale Tuesday night, has been "very surreal," Greenfield told us in an interview.

'New Girl' backslides with Justin Long

On the latest "New Girl," Jess was struggling with her breakup with Russell, worried that she was going to "end up alone... a single, old lady flashing people on the subway.”

But she finally snapped out of it and went with CeCe and the roommates to the bar. Schmidt took Jess’ phone so she couldn't “backslide” and call Russell.

Jess stole her phone back from Schmidt anyway, and, well...she backslid.
