'Boardwalk Empire': Momma Jimmy, the Easter BunnyI’d like to dedicate this recap to commenter “jon,” whose prediction for Momma Jimmy (a.k.a. Gillian) came to light in last night’s “Sunday Best.” The episode centered around our characters all spending Easter Sunday with their respective families, and Gillian’s grand scheme to regain control and continue her path as one of the more manipulative and creepy characters in Atlantic City. No surprise here, we’ll start with her: 'Boardwalk Empire': Lock, stock and whiskey barrel[Editor's Note: This post contains spoilers for the October 21 episode of HBO's "Boardwalk Empire."] After last week’s action-packed episode, Sunday's “Ging Gang Goolie” was just plain weird, due mostly in part to the creepiness that is Gillian Darmody, a.k.a. Mama Jimmy. But let me start with my boy Nucky Thompson. The storyline seems to move forward a bit when Nucky isn’t out chasing the likes of Billie Kent, and on Sunday he headed to NYC to pay off Harry Daugherty via Gaston Means. Yet when Nucky and the third-person-referencing George Remus showed up, Means was nowhere to be found. 'Boardwalk Empire': The iron man cometh[Editor's Note: This post contains spoilers for the October 14 episode of HBO's "Boardwalk Empire."] Sunday's episode, “You’d Be Surprised," was full of them - surprises, that is. There was a plethora of “OMG” and “WTF” moments from start to finish. In a way, the entire 58 minutes opened and (more or less) ended with Gyp Rosetti. 'Boardwalk Empire': Boys will be boys[This post contains spoilers to the October 7 episode of HBO's "Boardwalk Empire."] Just when "Boardwalk Empire" seemed to drag a bit with last week's episode, “Blue Bell Boy" picked up the pace and showed us that Nucky Thompson has made the full transition to gangster. That’s a good thing, seeing as Gyp Rosetti continues to put Nucky’s business to the test. 'Boardwalk Empire': Lost in translationAfter last week’s episode, the big question going into “Bone for Tuna” was, how would Nucky Thompson respond to Gyp Rosetti’s antics? Well, to answer that question, he did and he made it worse. 'Boardwalk Empire': Gyp, guns and 'Spaghetti'[This post contains spoilers for the September 23 episode of HBO's "Boardwalk Empire."] If there’s one thing I learned after watching last night’s “Spaghetti and Coffee,” it’s that Nucky Thompson is whipped and it’s going to be bad for business. He needs to put his game face on, because Gyp Rosetti is already playing hard ball. |
