Is this Brad Pitt's next role?

For movie inspiration, Brad Pitt is looking no further than his bookshelf.

The actor/producer, who just won an Oscar with 2013's adaptation of Solomon Northup's slave narrative, "12 Years A Slave," is now working on an adaptation of late journalist Michael Hastings' examination of the nation's military commanders.

Called "The Operators: The Wild and Terrifying Inside Story of America's War in Afghanistan," Hastings' 2011 account has as its central set-piece the downfall of General Stanley McChrystal, who resigned after a damaging profile of him and his team ran in Rolling Stone magazine in 2010.

Now, Pitt's Plan B production company is teaming up with New Regency and RatPac Entertainment to develop the project. "Animal Kingdom" writer/director David Michod is attached to write and helm "The Operators." On top of producing, Pitt's expected to play the role of McChrystal himself.

MTV Movie Awards Rewind: See the sneak peeks

One of the best reasons to watch the MTV Movie Awards - except to see Zac Efron's abs - is to check out the exclusive clips of upcoming movies.

The network has a knack for locking down both the talent and select clips from some of the year's hottest properties, which this time around include "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" and "X-Men: Days of Future Past."

'Draft Day' vs. 'Rio 2': What to see this weekend

If you're trying to decide between "Rio 2" and "Draft Day" this weekend, stick with the football.

According to critics, Kevin Costner's new heart-warming sports flick isn't a bad way to spend a few hours - or, at the very least, it's slightly better than revisiting the talking birds in 2011's "Rio."
