CNN Readers' Favorites: Who's winning? There are some year-end pop culture lists that are all about objectivity. CNN Readers' Favorites isn't one of them. Instead of telling you only what we deem the "best" or "worst" of the year, we wanted to know what was your "favorite"– such as maybe that singer critics slaughter but whom you'll wait outside in the rain for 24 hours to see perform. So who are the front-runners in the 2013 race to be named a CNN Readers' Favorite? See the top three so far in each category below. And if you're crying foul over the current leaders and you haven't voted yet, do it NOW: polls are closing at 12 p.m. ET on December 18. Check back for the final tally starting December 23. Readers' Favorites: Pick your top books of 2013If we're being honest, we're still working our way through our 2013 reading list - but that's because there's been so much top-notch talent to choose from. This year, we saw the return of giants like Stephen King with "Doctor Sleep" and Donna Tartt with "The Goldfinch," nearly as often as we were introduced to new voices like Ayana Mathis with "The Twelve Tribes of Hattie." So which books did you love the most in 2013? Pick up to 10 of your favorites by noon ET on December 18, and check back the week of December 23 for the results. Readers Favorites': Pick your top female celebs of 2013Call them America's sweethearts. There are some famous women who, over the course of a year, shine so brightly that they never seem to wear out their welcome. (This is a talent, by the way - there are others whom we won't mention that we'd LOVE to see just take a break already.) But we want to know which female celebrities you were a major fan of this year. Vote for up to 10 of your favorites by noon E.T. on December 18, and check back the week of December 23 to see the results. Readers' Favorites: Pick your top male celebs of 2013The British have made a business of playing American heroes - see: Henry Cavill and Andrew Garfield - but we can't say we're mad about it. What would 2013 have been without the talents of other U.K. actors like Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Tom Hiddleston and Idris Elba, or Aussie brothers Chris and Liam Hemsworth? OK, so some of our top male celebrities are imports. Considering the strength they're bringing to American cinema and music, we'll take being invaded. We want to know what you think: Which male stars could do no wrong for you in 2013? Vote for up to 10 of your favorites by noon E.T. on December 18, and then check back the week of December 23 for the results. Readers' Favorites: Pick your top music artists of 2013This year, Bruno Mars revealed his "Treasure," Robin Thicke "Blurred Lines" and Lady Gaga lived for the "Applause." Meanwhile, Katy Perry "Roar"-ed and Miley Cyrus crashed around like a "Wrecking Ball." And of course we can't forget Justin Timberlake, who staged a comeback so big it spanned two albums, two seasons and a tour, or Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, who went from the "Thrift Shop" all the way to the bank. But which artist did you love the most in 2013? Did you fall under the spell of Lorde and her "Royals," or did you rediscover why Paul McCartney's such a legend? Vote for up to 10 of your favorite music artists by noon ET on December 18, and check back the week of December 23 to see the results. Readers' Favorites: Pick your top movies of 2013TV had our rapt attention this year, but 2013 still had a number of fine films. While most of them have premiered over the past few weeks and/or have yet to open across the country, there's already consensus that flicks like "American Hustle," "Her," "12 Years A Slave" and "Gravity" are going to last long after this year is over. If you had to pick your favorite films of 2013, what would you choose? Vote for up to 10 titles by noon E.T. on December 18, and then check back the week of December 23 for the results. |
