Mariah Carey to join Simon Cowell's 'X Factor'Motherhood isn't the only new role that Mariah Carey is gearing up for—the singer is also in talks to be part of Fox's upcoming talent competition "X Factor" this fall. "I think Mariah will have a role on the live shows. I met her recently and she was [i]n great form," producer Simon Cowell said in a recent radio interview, according to The Wrap. "Her idea was to be the judge of the judges, which of course only Mariah could come up with," Cowell continued. "She'll be involved in some form. I literally adore her. I love her to bits."

Simon Cowell talks 'X Factor' booths and judgesCan't make it to one of "The X Factor" audition cities? No worries, just pop into a booth. During the month of April, aspiring "X Factor" contestants will be able to record their auditions in booths located in Honolulu, Hawaii; Phoenix, Arizona; Nashville, Tennessee; Anchorage, Alaska; Kansas City, Kansas; and Denver, Colorado.

Simon Cowell: 'Glee' has changed the rulesOnce you start cheering for the American version of "The X Factor," you can thank "Glee." According to Digital Spy, "X Factor" creator Simon Cowell says the hit Fox show about a high school show choir helped inspire him to bring his British show stateside. "If somebody said to me five years ago that one of the biggest pop stars or groups in the world was going to be a glee club, I never would've believed it," Cowell said. "What they've done with 'Glee,' I believe, is that they've broken away all boundaries; all shapes, all sizes all mixed together, but it just works."

Antonio 'L.A.' Reid to be 'X Factor' judgeA day after leaving his post as chairman of Island Def Jam Music Group, Antonio "L.A." Reid is officially joining Simon Cowell's "The X Factor" as a judge. “L.A. was my number one choice to sit alongside me on the show," Cowell is quoted as saying in a press release announcing the move. "In my opinion, he is one of the greatest ever music executives and of course a fantastic writer and producer. I am thrilled he has agreed to join the show, and for any artist auditioning, they know they have the chance to meet a true star-maker." Reid is an industry impresario whose former record label, LaFace, launched several major artists, including TLC, Usher and Pink. Speculation that Reid would be joining "X Factor" was rampant this week, particularly after he announced his resignation.

Is L.A. Reid the first judge for 'X Factor'?Lips are sealed pretty tightly, but speculation is heating up that "X-Factor" has its first judge. Reports are swirling that music industry mogul L.A. Reid has been tapped as the first to sit at the judge's table for Simon Cowell's new talent search. Reid added to the speculation Thursday when he stepped down from his post as chairman of the Island Def Jam Music Group.

Paula Abdul fine after frantic 911 phone callAnd now for the latest in Paula Abdul news: TMZ has obtained a recording of a Valentine's Day phone call Abdul made to 911 in which she appears to be having a spat with her boyfriend as they drive along a Santa Barbara freeway. "I want out of this car and he won't let me!" a frantic, crying Abdul tells the operator, before saying to her beau, "Are you gonna drop me off? Are you gonna drop me off, 'cause I have emergency on the phone!" The "Live to Dance" host ultimately tells the operator she is indeed being dropped off. |
