Mariah Carey's finally ready to release her new albumMariah Carey's new album is poised to be the most revealing one yet. At least, that's what we're guessing from the long-delayed disc's official title, "Me. I Am Mariah…The Elusive Chanteuse."
Carey shared that title along with a new release date and album artwork on Facebook Thursday, following speculation that she might pull a Beyoncé and release the new music all at once. Instead, the pop star's planning to drop "Me. I Am Mariah..." the traditional way on May 27. "On the back cover of this album is a personal treasure," Carey says in a promo video for the record. "This is my first and only self-portrait. I drew it when I was three-and-a-half, and entitled it, 'Me. I am Mariah.' Please don't judge me for such a simplistic title. ... It was a creative visualization of how I saw myself with the purity of a child's heart before it was ever broken." [youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5mSezvKLxVM&w=560&h=315%5D "Me. I Am Mariah" is a "reflection of some of the peaks and valleys that have made me who I am today," she went on. "I have decided to share (this drawing) with those of you who actually care and have been here for me through it all. I've been through a lot, but I've always known me. I am Mariah." So what's the "elusive chanteuse" part about? That's one of her latest "nicknames," Carey explains. The album, her 14th, will feature her already released singles "#Beautiful" and "You're Mine (Eternal)."
