'SNL' reunion on Seth Meyers' 'Late Night'For everyone who's missed seeing Fred Armisen on late night TV, Seth Meyers is about to be your savior. The "SNL" alum is bringing his former co-worker along to "Late Night" when he begins hosting the show on February 24. Meyers announced on Monday that Armisen is going to curate and lead the live band, even when he's off working on IFC's "Portlandia."
As New York Magazine's Vulture and MTV have pointed out, a lot of Armisen's comedy has musical roots, like the Blue Jean Committee and The Bjelland Brothers. As he prepares to take over "Late Night" from Jimmy Fallon, Meyers is surrounding himself with plenty of old friends. His first guest on "Late Night" will be another "SNL" graduate, Amy Poehler. Idina Menzel will 'Let It Go' at the OscarsThree cheers for the Oscars aiming high with their musical talent. The show has recruited Broadway darling Idina Menzel to perform "Let It Go" from her animated blockbuster "Frozen" at the March 2 ceremony. Kanye, post-'College Dropout': I'm the same guyIn the 10 years since Kanye West released his debut album "College Dropout," a lot has changed for the man. He's gone from an unknown to a global phenomenon; from a game-changing rap artist to an ambitious pop-culture creator who refuses to limit his palette; and from a mainly harmless trendsetting upstart to one of pop culture's most vilified figures. And that's aside from the peaks and valleys in his personal life, from his familial loss to his familial gain with Kim Kardashian and daughter North. But to West, now 36, he's still the same guy. |
