Zac Efron on life post-rehab: Never happier

Zac Efron's secretive trip to rehab has left the actor feeling like a new man.

The 26-year-old star revealed in September 2013 that he'd quietly completed a treatment program for undisclosed reasons, and he's now feeling better than ever, as he told Savannah Guthrie on "Today" Tuesday.

"I know last year was a little bit hard, (and) there were reports you'd gone through rehab," Guthrie said. "Anything you want to share about that?"

"Just that I'm in the best place I've ever been," replied Efron, who was on the show to promote his new movie, "That Awkward Moment." "I've never been this happy before, and I'm extraordinarily grateful for (my co-stars) guys and to be here promoting this movie and - I don't know, things are good. Thank you for asking."

Efron's facing the rehab question a lot as he does press for "That Awkward Moment," which arrives on January 31, and the actor is nimbly avoiding speaking on what exactly he received treatment for.

"It was an interesting year," Efron told People magazine at a media conference for the comedy on Tuesday. "I learned so many things. So much. The best part of it was being able to reflect upon that experience and realize how much I have learned about myself and the kind of man I want to be."
