Steve McQueen goes from heckled to DGA nod, and more news to note

Today's talk you might've missed:

  • Steve McQueen's shining moment at the New York Film Critics Circle Awards on Monday night was marred by heckling from critic Armond White (who's done that sort of thing before). McQueen kept it classy during his acceptance speech for "12 Years A Slave" and didn't mention the "F"-bombs that White was hurling his way. Just in case the outburst got to him, though, McQueen was greeted with more good news on Tuesday: he's now up for a Director's Guild Award. [Variety/THR]
  • We hear that Emma Roberts is planning to hitch her wagon to her "American Horror Story" co-star Evan Peters. The pair started dating in 2012, and are reportedly now engaged. [Extra]
  • Katy Perry, Lorde and Metallica are the latest artists to join a Grammy Awards lineup that includes Daft Punk, Stevie Wonder, Robin Thicke and Chicago. [EW]
  • We don't know what we want more after viewing Neil Patrick Harris' vacation photos from Mexico: his margarita recipe, or an invite the next time he and the family head down. [Neil Patrick Harris' Instagram]
  • We're not sure if Courteney Cox's relationship with her ex, David Arquette, is all that "unique" but it is interesting: it seems the former married couple now do dinners with their daughter Coco, and Arquette's new girlfriend Christina McLarty, who's also expecting a baby boy with the actor. Jennifer Lawrence explains that Oscars fall

Jennifer Lawrence's infamous fall during the 2013 Oscars could've gone badly.

But with this being Hollywood's favorite It girl, even her tumble on the stairs leading to the Oscar stage ended up working in her favor. The "Hunger Games" star easily and endearingly worked the trip into her acceptance speech for best actress, and kept the ball rolling with jokes backstage.
