Cyrus and Hemsworth were set to be married just a year ago when, after persistent rumors suggesting their relationship was over, the two stars confirmed in September that the engagement was off.

The news was just one more headline for Cyrus to add to her pile, as she was also in the midst of intense album promotion. So when Walters sat down with the 21-year-old singer/actress as part of her annual "Most Fascinating People" special, the two got real about how much the split really impacted Cyrus' year.

New Zealand woos 'Avatar' and more news to note

Today's talk you might've missed:

New Zealand reportedly really, really wants the "Avatar" sequels to film in their country. According to the New York Times, the nation's taxpayers will pay 25 percent of the budget for the three sequesls in exhange for the production bringing jobs there. Those "Avatar" films aren't cheap so we suspect that's some serious coin. [New York Times]

Calm down people. Miley Cyrus says she was just hugging her friend. She sorta said via her Twitter account that she's not dating rapper French Montana. [E! Online]

Yet another reason to love Justin Timberlake: He served as wingman for a concert goer who wanted to propose at his Louisville, Kentucky concert. We wanted to scream as loud as the audience did it was so sweet! [People]

It's so refreshing when celebs fess up immediately over those pesky nude photos that show up on the Internet. Disney star Dylan Sprouse, we salute you sir! [Us Weekly]

The "22 Jump Street" trailer with Channing Tatum, Jonah Hill and Ice Cube is here (be warned it's NSFW exactly). So enjoy that:

Julia Roberts reunites with co-star and more news to note

Today's talk you might've missed:

Together forever and never to part. Dermot Mulroney and Julia Roberts had a bit of a "My Best Friend's Wedding" reunion on the red carpet for the premiere of "August: Osage County" and it felt so nostalgic. Guess what we will be watching this weekend?

Speaking of nostalgia, word is Ed Helm will revive "The Naked Gun" franchise taking over the role of the bumbling detective Frank Drebin made famous by the late Leslie Nielsen. [Variety]

We seriously can't stop with the reboots today it seems: CBS is planning on a new version of "The Odd Couple" which is set to star Matthew Perry. C'mon Hollywood and give us what we really want, a "Friends" reunion. [EW]

Sad news for "Gossip Girl" star Kelly Rutherford. A judge has denied her request to gain physical custody of her two children. [People]

The trailer for season 2 of "The House of Cards" is here – and it is glorious. #GetReadyForMoreSleeplessNightsBingeWatching

  • Given that Julie Chen is on a rival daytime talk show, we're going to go ahead and call her blasting "The View" for making "a mistake" by hiring Jenny McCarthy not-so-subtle sabotage. [Extra]
