Paul Rudd as Ant-Man?

If all you wanted for Christmas were some intriguing casting rumors, we're just sorry that we weren't able to gift-wrap this one.

According to reports, Paul Rudd is in early talks to join Marvel's team of superheroes as Ant-Man.

Initially the speculation swirled around Joseph Gordon-Levitt, but industry trade Variety notes that Rudd was also a front-runner in casting discussions.

If it comes through, the likable Rudd - known for his comedic and romantic work - will bring to life Dr. Hank Pym, a scientist who invents a size-altering substance that also helps him communicate with insects.

For Entertainment Weekly, the casting would make perfect sense, given that whomever plays Ant-Man has to have a sense of humor but is also strong enough to make Ant-Man's power seem cool in a world of super-strong heroes.

We could see either Rudd or JGL filling the role, but it looks Gordon-Levitt has his hands full with an adaptation of "Sandman."

Edgar Wright ("Shaun of the Dead"; "Scott Pilgrim vs. The World") is already on board to direct the feature from a script written by Joe Cornish, and the movie already has a release date of July 31, 2015.

Is he going to be obnoxious and will it be set in a typical Rudd obnoxious New York setting? Isn't he going to play another "high powered" publicist or newspaper person, you know, the DYING professions that people who make movies about New York still think are vital?

Which of his movies had that 'typical New York' setting? This is 40 was in California, same as the Ron Burgundy movies. Role Models was also set out west. 40 Year Old Virgin had him working as a salesman in an electronics store. Please elaborate on your point.

I love you man was set in LA and he was a real estate agent. I guess Our Idiot Brother was set in New York, but he certainly didn't play a professional. He was a professional in How do you Know – but I don't think that was set in New York.

However, I do get your complaint. I find movies and television shows set in New York are often unrelatable. Most of America just doesn't live that way – and that includes most people who live in New York.

FU conservtard. At least Obama cares for all Americans and is courageous enough to stick it to the evil rich to take their money and re distribute it to the uninsured downtrodden oppressed segment of the society. From each according to his means to each according to his needs. Viva la Revolucion!
