'Amazing Spider-Man 2': First official trailerIn the second installment of the "Amazing Spider-Man" franchise, our favorite web-slinger is facing a conundrum. "Every day I wake up knowing that the more people I try to save, the more enemies I will make," Andrew Garfield's Peter Parker says in the first official trailer for Marc Webb's highly anticipated sequel. But even worse than that realization is Parker's awareness that "it's just a matter of time before I face those with more power than I can overcome."

Not only does Spider-Man have the villain Electro to contend with (played by a seething Jamie Foxx), but there's also The Rhino (Paul Giamatti) and the increasingly apparent threat of his friend Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan)'s family company, OsCorp. Although "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" was initially supposed to include Shailene Woodley as Mary Jane Watson, we can see how that character could've gotten lost in the shuffle and ended up needing to be axed. (As director Webb explained in June, he made "a creative decision to streamline the story and focus on Peter and Gwen and their relationship.") Spidey's "greatest battle" will arrive in theaters May 2, with an additional two films to follow. What do you think of the trailer? |
