If Benedict Cumberbatch wasn't enough of a bad guy for you in "Star Trek Into Darkness," maybe his take on "The Hobbit's" dragon Smaug will do the trick.
In the new trailer for December's "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug," Cumberbatch, who also voices the Necromancer, brings chilling life to the fearsome creature.
"Thief, where are you? Come now, don't be shy," Cumberbatch's Smaug goads Martin Freeman's Bilbo Baggins in one of the trailer's best moments. "Step into the light."
And by light, of course, he means a giant fireball.
But at two-and-a-half minutes, the clip offers much more action than that. "The Desolation of Smaug" will bring back Orlando Bloom's Legolas, who's taken a liking to Evangeline Lilly's Tauriel.
And Freeman's poor Bilbo not only has to come before "Smaug the stupendous," but he also has to fight off a nightmarishly large spider.
Once again helmed by Peter Jackson, "The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug" will arrive December 13, 2013.
