Leah Remini: Church of Scientology wants me to failNow that she's on "Dancing With the Stars," Leah Remini thinks some are paying attention just to see her crash and burn. The 43-year-old actress recently left the Church of Scientology, and has been outspoken about how the departure caused rifts in her personal relationships. There are those, she believes, who are now waiting to see her fail. "I'm going through a personal, big change for me and my family," Remini admitted during a practice session with "DWTS" partner Tony Dovolani. "The Church is looking for me to fail so they can say to their parishioners , 'you see what happens when you leave the Church?' They're waiting for me to fail." Dovolani has tried to coach her past any negativity, reminding Remini that her mission is to shed her "bad habits," like beating herself up. [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=adGPxRYI8S8&w=450&h=360] "I was always so scared to be myself. We're used to, everything that happens to us is our fault; you're used to taking a lot of negativity on yourself," Remini said during Monday's episode. "'Dancing With the Stars really is about me growing, about me coming out strong, and feeling strong." Backstage, the actress added that she sees "DWTS" as "a blessing." "I love being here," she told CNN. "It's such a nice vibe here. I really need this at this time of my life, and I look at this as a time of blessing." Her partner, Dovolani, was a bit more blunt: "Anybody who's a hater towards (Remini), stop it," he said. "I've never seen anybody nicer, so, you need to gain some new hobbies." Yet according to the Church of Scientology, Remini's new moves aren't even on the organization's radar. "We know this may come as a surprise to someone as self-absorbed as Ms. Remini," the Church said in a statement to ABC, "but we could care less if she wins or loses on 'Dancing With the Stars.'" |
