Robin Thicke breaks VMAs silence, and more news to note:

Today's news you might've missed:

  • Robin Thicke considers the MTV VMAs a mission accomplished. The singer, in his first time speaking about the incident, has said that he and Miley Cyrus are "both entertainers," and "knew what we were getting ourselves into. ... the VMAs is the perfect place for a little shock and awe." [MTV]
  • By the way: Robin Thicke and his "Blurred Lines" are heading out on tour: [HuffPost]
  • If all publicity is good publicity, then Drake's song release strategy is working. Not everyone loves his latest offering, "Wu-Tang Forever," but it at least it's reminding the public that "Nothing Was the Same" drops September 24. [Vibe]
  • The CW is stepping outside of its usual programming - you know, paranormal romance and drama/comedies about would-be Abercrombie models - to develop a drama on a complicated, real-world issue. Executive produced by "Milk's" Michael London, "ZE" will center on a female-to-male transgendered teen and his family. [Deadline]
  • Don't judge, but we're super excited about this: Colin Firth has joined the team for the live-action CGI Paddington Bear movie the Weinstein Company is working on. Oh, and Nicole Kidman's starring in it too. [THR]

Ben Affleck's Batman is going to be 'tired'

Depending on your definition of "seasoned superhero," that phrase could either mean an accomplished pro, "tired and weary," or some combination of both.

It sounds like Warner Bros. is applying the latter to its description of Ben Affleck's Batman, who will appear in 2015's Batman vs. Superman movie.

J.J. Abrams isn't directing next 'Trek,' but will be involved

J.J. Abrams isn't going to run off and leave his "Star Trek" franchise high and dry.

The director has confirmed that he won't lead the charge on a third "Star Trek" film, but he tells StarTrek.com that he will be involved in both the creation of the story and its production.

Julianne Moore joins 'Hunger Games' franchise

"The Girl on Fire" is getting a flame-haired co-star: Julianne Moore has joined the cast of "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay," and will appear in both installments of the two-part conclusion.

The Lionsgate film tweeted the casting announcement on Friday, revealing that Moore will play President Alma Coin:

"The Talk" this week has been about sharing the co-hosts' quietly kept secrets, and Sara Gilbert opened up with one involving a former "Roseanne" co-star.

When Gilbert, now 38, was starring on Roseanne Barr's '90s comedy as Darlene Connor, she was also dating her co-star Johnny Galecki, who happened to play her on-screen love interest, David.

But that's not the secret (as Gilbert says, some "Roseanne" fans probably already knew that). Here's what she spilled:
