Latest viral sensation: Ylvis' 'The Fox'

Since hitting YouTube on September 3, Ylvis’ video for “The Fox” is becoming one of the biggest viral hits of 2013.

The track follows an emotional man on his quest to uncover the sound a fox makes. Yes, the track finds a melancholic Norwegian duo describing the sounds of various animals as they build up to an epic chorus full of zany chanting.

Who hasn’t always wanted to hear the imaginary noises of the woodsy creature screamed over a club-ready beat?

The accompanying video finds Ylvis performing the song in full fox regalia, surrounded by a posse of professionally choreographed dancers. The end product is a Psy-meets-Bloodhound Gang forest fever dream destined to take the Internet by storm.

It appears the music video of the summer has arrived just after Labor Day.

Ylvis is a Norwegian group consisting of brothers Bård Ylvisåker and Vegard Ylvisåker. The siblings have been performing as a variety comedy group in Norway since the early 2000s, and currently host a comedic talk show in their home country titled, “I kveld med YLVIS.”

The group have a back-catalog full of similarly outlandish songs and videos, but something about “The Fox” has garnered mass attention.

Released as a hilarious promotional video for their show’s upcoming season, the video took off like wildfire. “The Fox” was produced by world-renowned Norwegian producers Stargate, whose best known for their chart-topping work with Beyonce, Rihanna, and Katy Perry. In fact, the team are just coming off of the mega success of Selena Gomez’s summer anthem “Come & Get It.”

Bård and Vegard Ylvisåker write or co-write the music and lyrics to their own songs, and made the brilliant decision to team up with Norway’s hottest production team to craft what could become the next worldwide Internet smash.

It’s only a matter of time before “The Fox” hits Top 40 radio and clubs, eventually making way for years of enjoyment at wedding receptions and bar mitzvahs.

Are Ylvis the latest viral flash-in-the-pan? Or, are the duo destined for comedy music greatness? Spread the message of “The Fox” until we find out.

These guys are comedians. Comedians make fun of things, people, stuff. For the fun of it. The idea is to make people laugh, not take things life, too seriously, soooo seriously! In case anyone (here) missed this particular point!
