The one 'N Sync member who wants a reunion tourThe long-awaited 'N Sync reunion has come and gone in the blink of an eye. And we mean that almost literally: At Sunday's Video Music Awards, JC Chasez, Lance Bass, Joey Fatone and Chris Kirkpatrick reunited with Justin Timberlake just long enough to sing a few lines from "Girlfriend" and "Bye, Bye, Bye" before Timberlake resumed a lengthy solo performance.
Rumor has it Timberlake's former bandmates were "upset" when they learned their set wasn't going to be the longer 'N Sync extravaganza fans were likely expecting. "They were pushing for more," Us Weekly reportedly heard from an unnamed source. "They originally were told that it was going to be more of their old hits, not just 'Bye Bye Bye' - but then Justin reworked it." Either way, 'N Sync's comeback was a noticeably swift one - and both Chasez and Kirkpatrick have said that they don't expect any sort of reunion tour, a la The Backstreet Boys or New Kids on the Block, anytime soon. Kirkpatrick told Orlando radio station XL1067, that he'd never say never, but the VMAs reunion "was just for (Justin)," who received the Michael Jackson's Video Vanguard award during the ceremony. The reunion was just a matter of time, Chasez told Ryan Seacrest Monday, and it was Timberlake who put the idea together. "Just a few days ago, Justin gave me a buzz and he basically said, 'Hey man listen, I'm getting this award and they've given me a pile of time to perform, and we started our careers at MTV, and I think that we should get the band back together,'" Chasez explained. "And we did it, but for just for a minute because it really was about him and all that he's accomplished. But he wanted to acknowledge that part of his career, and so we all decided to do it." Kirkpatrick agrees with Chasez that no one has any illusions of trying to head out on a reunion tour - except for one person. "I'm not going to say (a reunion tour) is never going to happen, but it was what it was," Kirkpatrick said. "This was a moment for Justin to get his accolades, and for us to say that we had so much respect for what he did ... We haven't even talked about (a reunion tour), except for of course Joey. Joey was the first one who was like, 'OK guys, let's go on tour now!'" |
