Kelly Clarkson: Who needs a wedding?Kelly Clarkson isn't going to let a wedding get in the way of her sanity. The 31-year-old singer, who's been engaged to talent manager Brandon Blackstock since December, has revealed that she's trading in a big wedding in favor of getting eloped.
Life has gotten so busy for the "Stronger" songstress and her husband-to-be, who's also a dad of two, that they "finally just came to terms the other night and were like, 'So, we change our minds and we want to elope,'" Clarkson told People magazine this week. "I have a Christmas record coming out," she said of her packed schedule. "I'm doing a bunch of stuff with State Farm right now ... We have two kids who just started school. We're going to all these football games and soccer games and volleyball games and [Brandon]'s got one of the biggest artists [Blake Shelton] in country music. He's flying everywhere." It didn't help that details about her wedding, which she initially hoped would be an outdoor fall affair, had begun to leak after her save-the-date announcements were sent. "We just got so overwhelmed by it – all the decisions," Clarkson said. So instead, the eventual newlyweds decided to share one of their engagement photos with an explanation on why they're keeping their matrimony super small. "'Thank you so much for understanding, but it's just going to be me and Brandon and his two kids and the minister,'" Clarkson said.
