Elisabeth Hasselbeck leaving 'The View'

Elisabeth Hasselbeck is officially vacating her seat on "The View." After joining the table in 2003, representatives tell CNN that Wednesday, July 10, will mark Hasselbeck's final day on the successful morning talk show, currently in its 16th season.

"For a decade, Elisabeth Hasselbeck has brought her passion and strong beliefs to "The View," ABC said in a statement. "We watched her journey from newlywed to motherhood, an Emmy Award-winning talk show host, author, entrepreneur and activist. She stood behind her political views even if they were not the most popular opinions at the table, never shying away from voicing a difficult question. We thank Elisabeth and wish her luck as she begins this new chapter of her career."

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Hasselbeck's new chapter involves heading to Fox News in the fall to fill the spot on morning show “Fox & Friends” recently left open by co-host Gretchen Carlson.

While you were working ...

Today's news you might've missed:

  • Meredith Vieira is moving from morning TV to midday. The former "Today" anchor has landed her own daytime talk show, "The Meredith Vieira Show," to begin in fall 2014.
  • If you saw a weird, confusing music video for Kanye West's "Black Skinhead," rest assured that was only the beginning. Kanye's tweeted that the version that's been circulating online is a leak, and that the finished video should arrive sometime next week. He also has a super endearing message for whomever leaked it. • Clinton Kelly and Stacy London will make one last attempt to rid the world of ill-conceived outfits when the final season of "What Not to Wear" begins at 10 p.m. on August 9. [EW]
  • The gestating "Dumb & Dumber" sequel is inching closer to a release date. Jeff Daniels told "Late Night's" Jimmy Fallon that production will begin in September. [Late Night with Jimmy Fallon]
  • A leak of Selena Gomez's "Love Will Remember" opens with a pretty sappy voicemail ... one that may or may not have been left for the pop star by Justin Bieber. [YouTube]
  • Now this is armchair traveling: Google Maps has added "Harry Potter's" Diagon Alley to Google Street View - by way of London's Warner Bros. Studio Tour, of course. [Mashable]

Popular baby names for 2013 include ... Katniss?

We knew the "Hunger Games" fandom was pretty intense, but we didn't think it would have quite this big of a cultural impact.

According to Nameberry's list of 2013's popular baby names (thus far), there are apparently some fans who love Suzanne Collins' trilogy enough to consider naming their daughter after its teen heroine, Katniss.

Mos Def attempts force-feed procedure allegedly used on Guantanamo detainees

Rapper Yasiin Bey - whom you might better know as Mos Def - says he voluntarily attempted the standard procedure for force-feeding detainees at Guantanamo Bay.

The aborted procedure was captured in a four-and-a-half-minute video commissioned by human rights organization Reprieve, with the intent being to raise awareness and support for Gitmo detainees who are being involuntarily fed while on a hunger strike.
