'Terminator' reboot to arrive in 2015

The Terminator is indeed coming back, and it'll be sooner than you'd think.

Studio Paramount has confirmed that the first installment of their rebooted "Terminator" trilogy will land on June 26, 2015.

The movie will be executive produced by Dana Goldberg and Paul Schwake, with Laeta Kalogridis (“Shutter Island”) and Patrick Lussier (“Drive Angry”) on board to pen the script.

The original "Terminator" arrived in 1984 with Arnold Schwarzenegger as the robotic assassin, and the franchise grew to include three more movies: 1991's "Terminator 2"; 2003's "Terminator 3"; and 2009's "Terminator Salvation." The "Terminator" series as a whole has brought in $1.4 billion worldwide.

Schwarzenegger starred in the first three "Terminator" films, and had a brief appearance in the fourth installment. The statement from Paramount didn't mention whether the actor-turned-politician would have a role in the rebooted "Terminator," but we now don't have long to wait to see what his involvement could be.

Is there any male over 25 who doesn't know every frame of the original Terminator by heart? – It is one of the best action thrillers ever made and in no way needs a reboot of any kind – especially after seeing what Hollywood did to Total Recall.

Sir, I'm just shy of being under 24 and even I know every frame. The movie is a masterpiece of several genres. It's my favorite movie of all time, and this discourages me. It's a classic, perfect the way it is. (Of course, I'm not ignorant enough to believe it to absolutely flawless. Even the best films ever made had a lot of flaws.)

That being said, I do wonder what they'll be doing with it. Sometimes reboots and remakes can lead to good things.
      Here's hopin', anyway.

I vote Vin Diesel as the next Terminator.
Arnie was great in his day. But, this franchise needs to move on.

Just a correction to the above article though. Arnold was not in most recent one, Salvation. That was actually a man named Roland Kickenger, another Austrian borne actor/bodybuilder that looks a lot like Arnold and has in fact doubled for him (arnold) at various times. He is best known as Chip Rommel on the show Son of the beach.

EVERYONE knows that it was a CGI Arnold in the last Salvation Terminator – DUH! It was widely reported upon the release of the film. Idiot.

I think the Rock would be great as the Terminator. What do you think, BV? lol... Mike- I agree, too, that Vin Diesel would be good, too.

    • M.A.P.

I don't know if the rock could pull it off – his face has too much emotion. The reason Arnold worked so well was his Austrian accent and heartless, emotionell face. I thing Dwayne – although adorable – would remind too many of us of all the comedies and lame movies he's done. We need a no-name German Actor with big muscles and NO EMOTION!
