'Star Wars VII' character breakdowns give a teeny bit of insight

The Rebel Alliance has apparently begun recruitment.

The website Bleeding Cool News reports that casting has begun in the U.K., and has posted confirmed casting breakdowns for "Star Wars Episode VII," pointing to a list of seven descriptions of possible character types, a sampling of which you can see below:

Robert Downey Jr. signs up for more 'Avengers'

It looks like Robert Downey Jr. will be rocking the Iron Man suit for at least two more films.

The actor's signed a two-picture deal to reprise his role as Tony Stark for "The Avengers 2" and "The Avengers 3." The announcement was made on Marvel's website, clearing up the speculation that Downey wouldn't return because of contract issues.

Shailene Woodley cut from 'Spider-Man' sequel

It looks like Peter Parker will have to find another redhead to playfully call him "tiger."

Shailene Woodley's role as one of Spider-Man's greatest love interests, Mary Jane Watson, has been cut from the upcoming "The Amazing Spider-Man" sequel, according to a statement from the film's director, Marc Webb.

Stephen Colbert gives touching tribute to mom

"Colbert Report" viewers were likely crying instead of laughing when they tuned in to Stephen Colbert on Wednesday night.

The Comedy Central host opened the episode with a frank and touching tribute to his late mother Lorna Colbert, honoring her following her death last week at the age of 92.

James Gandolfini's last roles

When he died at 51 on Wednesday, James Gandolfini hadn't been a weekly fixture on our television screens for six years. But he was still very much a working actor.

In his passing, Gandolfini's left behind a number of projects, including an HBO limited series called "Criminal Justice."
