Lil' Wayne addresses flag controversyLil' Wayne has a response for folks who found his alleged "stomp" on the American Flag offensive: It's not that deep. In footage that leaked of behind-the-scenes visuals for Wayne's "God Bless Amerika" track, the rapper is seen stepping on an American flag as it falls down behind him. Music sites, blogs and even an MMA fighter voiced their displeasure for what was deemed unpatriotic.
Wayne's first rebuttal came via Twitter. "I didn't step on the flag on purpose! Its a scene in a video where the flag drops behind me and after it drop it's just there as I perform," Wayne posted to his account. The negative criticism must have left an impression on the New Orleans-born artist, who continued to defend himself on Facebook a few hours later. "It was never my intention to desecrate the flag of the United States of America," he wrote. "In the final edit of the video you will see the flag fall to reveal what is behind it but will never see it on the ground. In most people eyes including my own who were raised in that environment, the Hood is the only America they know and the only America I knew growing up. " What do you think? |

I think he clarified exactly what happened. He does not condone 'stepping on the flag' and unfortunately many will use this as an opportunity to spew their venom. that"s just human nature for some people.

American with a "c" Soldier, you seem to love bullying with your comments, grow a pair. I served my time for this country and my 4 sons are doing the same. Just because it offends you it doesn't affect anyone else. Stop cutting down others opinions you may feel better about yourself. Being a African American women, living on a day to day basis. I have seen it all, being a retired soldier, seeing what I've seen what he did don't offend me. There is a lot more out there to worry about, so who's ignorant?

This is not only Lil Wanye's stupidity but also the music industry's issue. Lil Wanye is dumb as a "Box of Rocks". Although I enjoy some rap – his songs if you can call them that are pure trash. The music industty is pimping these Flavor Flav buffoons rappers like a $2 trick. Yes...he has the right to step on the Flag (First Amendent); so damn it take accountabilty for you actions. Do not buckle down – you are playing to the lowest common demoninator anyway.
… Unbelievable….Wow…the blogs sure took a dark turn yesterday....was everybody in a bad mood or on the rag or something? Was there a full moon?
Some of my favourite fecal commentators turned out to be racists! My turd is broken.
Yeah, I think I'm going to take my sickamundo, disgusto comments elsewhere for awhile, until people start to play nice.
poop 3
It wouldn've been funnier if he laid a meat dragon on the flag then rolled into a log and squeezed so the poop comes out both ends.
The only idiots are the people getting so offended by this. You are oversensitive and sentimental. So what if he stepped on the flag, it's a piece of material – a prop! America is more than a piece of material! You have more to be proud of than the red and white stripes!
There are other ways to express one self artistically then descrating a national symbol. Mr Wayne saw fit to change the spelling of America for artistic purpose, the flag could have been a reasonable "artistic" representation, such as changing the number of red and blue strips and /or using something other than stars in a field of blue and a differnt pattern then the current flag. Do I agree with Mr Wayne -no – do I defend his right for artistic expression, yes. Do I believe he did not mean to disrespect the flag – he is too smart for that and I am no fool.
Those who are complaining will be first in line to buy Wayne's cd, since he is super rich because of white kids who love him.
First of all, the American flag should never touch the ground. Second, if you pay attention, Lil Wayne looks down as he steps all over the flag and does it repeatedly. He knew what he was doing. Also listen to the lyrics in his song, it is blatenly obvious this was on purpose. What a discrace!
As an army widow I am VERY offended. That flag is the symbol of everything America stands for. That is the flag that was draped over my husbands casket. He needs to man up and give a real honest apology.
I can understand how your feeling, I am a soldier living the army life I personally think he is partially retarded

with a red armband and black jackboots, but he doesn't work for UPS...
hurr durrrrrr..........
Intentional or not, Lil Wayne's lyrics and recent public behavior haven't labeled him as a very intuitive person. Instead of backing into a corner like a child, man up with a very formal apology and move forward with some kind of contribution or pledge to educate people about the liberties we are privileged. If he feels strongly about those less fortunate, how about lobbying or funding programs that allow those without the means to make something of themselves.
When he put the letter K in AmeriCa, his intentions were known.
