J.J. Abrams talks production plans for 'Star Wars'"Star Wars Episode VII" will take J.J. Abrams to a galaxy far, far away - and reportedly also to London. "We are, most likely, if all goes as planned, going to be moving to London at the end of the year for the 'Star Wars' movie," Abrams said Saturday at the Produced By Conference, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
This is good news for "Star Wars" fans, considering that the force is strong in London with all of the previous films being shot there. However, for Abrams - and his inconvenienced family - the new film might as well be shot on the distant moon of Endor. "When you're 13 and 14, it's like, f*** that, I don't care what the movie is," Abrams said jokingly about his kids' relocation across the pond. Even though the director is uprooting his family and changing his production pattern - he has shot all of his previous films in Los Angeles - for a planned start date of early 2014, he also understands the need for balance when approaching the "Star Wars" universe. "It is so massive and so important to people," Abrams said. "I think the key to moving forward on something like this is honoring but not revering what came before." |

How does politics have anything to do with Star Wars? At any rate, I'm afraid of what's to come...but a little excited to see what they come up with as far as storyline. I wonder if there will be cameos from the known beloved characters. I honestly wish that they'd do the KOTOR stuff or set the saga in a distant future...new characters...obscure references to the old stuff. Star Wars is so bloody cool...but it needs new life. Not the same old story and characters on another advneture.
Star Wars & Star Trek should Never have the same writers/directors/producers. Something will be compromised on one of the franchises somehow, & fans of both will lose.
Star Trek has already been compromised. It was made sooooo much better.
Well, Star Trek, which had always at least tried to be the thinking man's sci fi was totally trashed by this guy into just another action series- a good action series, but not proper star trek in my opinion. So yes I kind of hate him, but Star Wars (which I've already preferred) has always been action-driven, even when it proved able to carry more complex plots in the prequels. I don't like Abrams, but I think his style will do much less damage to Star Wars than he did to Star Trek.
STAR WARS IS MY FAVORITE! NANOO NANOO!
