While you were working ...

Today's news you might've missed:

  • George Michael was in a car accident today, but thankfully he's come out of it with just a few minor scrapes. His rep told CNN in a statement, “George Michael was a passenger in a vehicle involved in a traffic accident yesterday evening, no third party was involved. He is being treated for superficial cuts and bruises but is fine. We have no further comment at this time.”
  • Sugarland's Jennifer Nettles is launching a solo country career - and she's tapped Rick Rubin to help her do it. (Nettles, consider our interest piqued.) [THR]
  • Amazon's potential "Zombieland" series is dead - as in really dead, not like "Night of the Living Dead" - and it's all your fault. The show's co-creator blasted the pilot's critics on Twitter saying that they "successfully hated it out of existence." (Anyone know how that works? We have a few things we'd like to hate out of existence at the moment ...) [LAT]
  • After this monkey business - in the truest sense of the phrase - Justin Bieber should consider just getting a pet fish. The singer now reportedly owes Germany "thousands" after he left his pet monkey in the care of a German animal shelter while he was on tour. [Rolling Stone]
  • Cheryl Cole might be the one person to publicly defend Kim Kardashian's maternity style. The former "X Factor" judge wrote a long message of support to the reality star on Twitter, sending Kimmy her "best wishes." [MTV]
  • A new trailer for "Dexter's" eighth and final season has landed - get into it:

More reports suggest Beyonce's expecting

Let the rumor mill spin.

Beyoncé has yet to address speculation that she's expecting her second child, but sources have now told E! and the New York Post's Page Six that the singer and her husband Jay-Z are readying for baby No. 2.

The couple, who celebrated five years of marriage in April, welcomed daughter Blue Ivy in January 2012.

A rep for Bey had no comment on the reports, but that's not going to stop the gossip given the timing. The singer recently had to postpone one of her concert stops in Belgium on doctor's orders to rest, and just before that, she spoke optimistically about expanding her family.

“I would like more children,” the 31-year-old told ABC News in early May. “I think my daughter needs some company."

'The Office' goes out on a high (ratings) note

We thought Steve Carell had a good reason as to why his character Michael Scott wouldn't return for "The Office's" series finale - he'd already said good-bye once before, etc., etc. - so his surprise appearance on Thursday was even more poignant.

The way the creative team - which, along with Carell, played coy with the press for months - worked him in to the final episode was so fitting, we're not ashamed to admit it made us miss "The Office" before it was even officially off the air.

New 'Idol' winner: Show helped me be myself

Candice Glover could barely remember her own name after she was crowned the new "American Idol" on Thursday.

"I'm still trying to process the whole thing, I don't even know what's happening," she told the press backstage. "It feels amazing though that I finally got to this point; I've been working for so long."
