'Friends' reunion? Not happening, co-creator saysThe cast of "Friends" will be there for you, but only in syndication. Marta Kauffman, who co-created the comedy in 1994 with David Crane, has shot down the hopeful rumors that a "Friends" reunion special was in the works.
The Internet's been on fire lately with gossip that there was a "Friends" special being planned for Thanksgiving 2014, and maybe even a new season from NBC or a movie. When E! News caught up with Kauffman at Tuesday night's premiere of "Call Me Crazy," which "Friends" star Jennifer Aniston executive produced, Kauffman gave them quite the emphatic response. "I was just with the woman who is the costume designer for ['Call Me Crazy'], and we were sitting at a bar, having a drink and some shrimp, and this whole group of people comes in and they're all abuzz because they heard that 'Friends' is coming back for another season," Kauffman said. "I'm going to clear this up right now: No. Not. Happening." NBC, which aired the '90s classic for 10 seasons until its end in 2004, has denied the reports as well. "'Friends' was about that time in your life when your friends are your family," Kauffman said. "And once you have a family, there's no need anymore." So, really, Kauffman, no reunion? "No." |

If they make a remake I hope each character dies in the very first scene. Maybe a hilarious plane crash?

Oh its real-
Who starts such a rumor if it is not even close to being real? Losers
he wins all the time
just like my 2 friends
yep
HAAAAAAA
hahaha
yep
I can't imagine a reunion show wouldn't be a hit so the money would be there...and Ms. Kauffman must be all about the money since she must not be about the fans.
Your comment makes NO sense – the money would be there but there will be no reunion because she is all about the money? Good grief...
That show sucked
Jeez, I agree. The worst show EVER. It REALLY sucked.
but before that i have soooooooooooo much research too do...comfy time
It was a big stinky pile of excretement on a sofa with a cup of coffee in front of it. And that theme song made me want to stab my ears!
"board" interested in courtney cox–lol m
Who cares? This show had about 2 good seasons. It was boring and redundant
you're boring and redundant
this show was stupid, only one I watched was the fanale and that was to say good bye forever. thank goodness no reunion
chandler was alway my favorite character..then show became a dud after awhile
Both movies were a hit....stfu
Lets remake the african queen or or the little rascals which when remade was a total flop! rhett it go friends!
Spending a quiet night at home, sculpting farm animals from my girlfriend's poop.
If they really aren't planning it, they should. This rumer has rocked the Internet. If half the people that's been talking about it, actually watched it, it would be a killing in the box offices! Hands down!
Itz super hottt..:-)
Just wasn't enough nudity on that show for my taste. A damn shame, really.
I hear ya. Not enough special effects for me. Truly, a damn shame. lol...
I'm looking forward to watching its' special on the splicing of The Family Guy marathon winner instead.
Friends was such a fake and phony show highlighting shallow boring people imitating Seinfeld and Elaine....I turned the channel constantly whenever their pretensious mugs came on, and that was 20 years ago!!!! I am still amazed that anyone would still care about this whiney group with egos as big as their million dollar paychecks. Why are they still on magazine covers? No one wants to read about them anymore and who cares if they can still wear a bikini? My friends and I, thankfully, have evolved to watching "Big Bang Theory" which has a semblance of intelligence and humor never found in that superficial coffeehouse.
Are u serious?? I watch Big Bang too! Friends is about, friends making it through life together through all senerios. Though I enjoy watching it, the "big bang theory" is based on a theory and Physics! They are getting thier paycheck too!
And Seinfeld was so real and deep in thoughts.
sorry luisa but the bbt doesnt even come close to being as funny as friends.it is one of the worst comedies on tv.
I don't think it would work. Let's remember them as they were when it all made sense and was a great show.
It's over. It was a great show with good writers and the right actors and had a good long run. Like Seinfeld it had a big impact at the time, but you people need to learn to let go. It's not the same as reality; you probably shouldn't spend your time missing imaginary 'friends'. Said tongue in cheek, not nastily, by the way.
"Once you have a family, there's no need anymore." What?!?!? That would only work if they weren't all family anyway. Seriously, Ross and Monica are BLOOD family, Monica and Chandler are married, it's likely Ross and Rachel are married with more kids that are related by blood to Monica and by marriage to Chandler, and even Phoebe and Joey were like siblings to the rest of them. It's absolutely ridiculous to act like the 6 would never get together again.
I agree. In many ways I'm closer to my friends than I am to a lot of my family members. Remember; you can chose your friends, you can't chose your family.
This was one of my favorite shows. I would have loved to see a reunion show. I wonder if Ross went on another break..lol
"'Friends' was about that time in your life when your friends are your family," Kauffman said. "And once you have a family, there's no need anymore." Seriously? Once you have a family, there is no need for friends? Lame, Marta. Just lame. I have a family now, and my friends are as important as ever.
That's a shame. They are leaving a lot of money on the table and letting a lot of fans down by not doing a reunion. A lot of the fans, myself included, would like to see where the characters are and what they're up to now. The actors have all shown a willingness to work together still, as Courtney Cox just guest starred on "Go On" with Matthew Perry. Again, such a shame...
I agree. There had been enough time and with the right script it could be Amazing. Many of us 30-40 somethings grew up with the cast and would lap this up. Honor your fan base!
