'The Walking Dead' gets a new bossThere's a new sheriff in town on the set of "The Walking Dead." On Wednesday, AMC made it official: Scott M. Gimple will be replacing Glen Mazzara in overseeing TV's No. 1 scripted series.
The show about a zombie apocalypse lost Mazzara back in December. He was in charge of the show for much of season two and the current season three. "To be honest, as we were talking about moving ahead with the show, there [were] genuine creative differences," Mazzara, the show's second showrunner after Frank Darabont, later told New York Magazine's Vulture. "So we together, AMC and I, reached a decision that it was best to part ways. I’ll let my work stand for itself, and I’m very happy with it and they’re happy with it," he continued. "I’ve moved on to my own project now, and I’m excited about that. It was a difficult decision but I think it was the right one for the show and for me as an artist." "Walking Dead" creator Robert Kirkman told CNN that he thinks "the creative couldn't be at a better place. I think we have a really strong season three. Moving forward, it's important to note that television is a collaborative medium, and there may be an element that changes from season to season, but ... The majority of people remain, so the show is still going to have the same flavor. I couldn't be more excited about all the things we're going to be doing in season four." After Gimple's hiring on Wednesday, Kirkman said in a statement that the new showrunner "has been an essential part of this show since he came aboard at the very beginning of season two. He's contributed to guiding this show in a substantial way that has resulted in a lot of the key scenes and storylines fans have dubbed signature moments of 'The Walking Dead.'" Gimple added, "I'm a huge fan of the comics, and started with the show on the other side of the set, as an avid viewer. Over the past two years, it's been an incredible privilege making such great television with the best cast and crew I've ever worked with - I can't wait to make some more." The series' fourth season begins production on May 6 in Atlanta. |

I like the show, but every episode seems to be less impressive than the last. The first season was the best of the three INHO, but even then, I prefer the comic any day of the week. I almost wish that I hadn't read the comic series three times before the show began to air. It set a really high standard.
I completely agree. Season 1 was awesome because it was gritty and much more subtle. Season 2 went to the network approach and they tried to focus really heavily on character development and big reveals. The writing seemed to switch from focusing on how characters interact with this new world to focusing on these particular individuals. And everything is said directly in dialogue, and people make stupid and irrational decisions clearly just to advance the plot. People don't give each other essential information so that we can build a conflict between them over 3 episodes and make it more dramatic later. It kind of insults the intelligence of the viewer. Obviously it hasn't done too much to hurt their viewership, but it really changed a great show into a mediocre one. Maybe the new guy will take it back in the direction of season 1.
Show needs more chicks with big racks!
Great, the last time a show changed hands it went south. "2 and a half men". Just saying.
bb–1 hr...are u here?
my family is addicted to this show..
best show on tv
I hope AMC doesn't start acting like FOX and start micromanaging their programs. I'm also somewhat concerned about the recent influx of these reality shows as well. If I wanted to watch that, I'd watch HISTORY or DISCOVERY channel. I know Breaking Bad is ending after it returns. Hell On Wheels is decent, but I find I get bored as it continues to progress. Just hope they have something cool hidden up their sleeve for the future.
and not good acting.
worst acting ever.
The last teo seasons have been a little silly. Almost like Swiss Family Robinson on Zombie Island. It is nothing compared to the first season.
POOOOOOOOOOOOOP.
I extra funny today. I know. No applause necessary.
the cast does not get affected.
I hope it won't affect my ability to do el número dos. That means POOOOP in Mexican.
Why isn't anyone talking about pooop today? Why no funny turd nuggets of wisdom being flung? I hope everyone is ok.
What show is this?
I sure hope they don't change it too much and mess it up. They say it's the number one scripted show on TV. They must be doing something right.
nothing will change for the cast and crew. ever.
It's correctly spelled lesbean. Pinto bean, pork-n-bean, lesbean. And the gay lesbeans are the worst.
nothing changes you are who you are and nobody will take it–now please shut up.
I sure hope the lesbeans won't be affected. They like to POOOOOOP.
Nobody is losing anybody...it will always be number 1...

I like this show, hope it doesn't change too much.
Me too our friend. I think it is great. I just hope it will be on the air for many many more seasons.
nothing will change. it will be ok.
Gotta admit I've never watched it. Is there poop in it?
best phone call of the year.
As long as the show doesn't loose Kirkman, it shouldn't go too off track. But who knows, AMC does tend to over react and believe there own press.
the show has to go on!
