On Sunday night's "House of Lies," Matt Damon continued what has been quite a month of taking a few shots at his own image, joining the likes of John Malkovich, Neil Patrick Harris and James Van Der Beek in the self-deprecation hall of fame.
In real life, "House of Lies" star Don Cheadle and Damon are "super cute besties", having co-starred in the "Ocean's Eleven" movies. But on the Showtime series, "Matt" was a fame-obsessed egomaniac who came to Marty Kaan's Gallweather & Stearn in order to set up his own charity.
(In the meantime, this season's story arcs mostly took a backseat to the Damon shenanigans.) Below, we've outlined the three things we learned about this fictional version of Damon:
1. "Matt Damon" hates George Clooney
The main reason Matt was even setting up a charity, it turns out, was to get back at Clooney.
"The man puts on a Hawaiian shirt and they hand him an Oscar," he complained.
Matt tuned out the starstruck Doug's presentation (he thinks he's "Jesus meets Gandhi meets the Jonas Brothers"), and invited Marty to hang out at a club that night.
2. "Matt Damon" has an odd way of greeting people
Matt said hello to Marty by slapping him in the face.
After daring Marty to get a woman he didn't know to kiss her friend - earning him another slap and a call to security - Marty told everyone it was Matt's idea, which, of course, made everything OK.
Later that night, Marty told Matt exactly what he thought of him, potentially costing Gallweather & Stearn a client.
3. "Matt Damon" is true to his word (sort of)
Despite Marty saying how he felt, Matt showed up anyway, offering to help the secretary with a friend's medical issue on the way in. "I love real people," he breathlessly announced.
When Marty and Matt met one on one, it became clear that Matt was high. "How many Vicodin in an overdose?" he asked.
Marty did the unthinkable - at least, in his colleagues' view - and told Matt to get out of his office. But Matt gave him one last opportunity to get his business ... and let's just say it wasn't something Marty was looking forward to.
At the end of the day, Marty got the gig, and Matt shot an epic PSA for "Damon's Children."
