Work rolls in for 'Bridesmaids' stars

Following Kristen Wiig's new job on "Anchorman 2," her "Bridesmaids" co-stars Melissa McCarthy and Ellie Kemper are landing new work as well.

Kemper, according to the Hollywood Reporter, has landed a role leading a new comedy pilot called "Brenda Forever" on NBC.

The premise centers on 31-year-old Brenda Miller who, after an adolescence as a chubby, awkward but confident girl, is still a woman who follows her own path. The pilot will be written and executive produced by David Lampson and Andrew Leeds, and will be 32-year-old Kemper's first post-"Office" job.

McCarthy, meanwhile, is becoming her own boss. The actress has launched a production company called On The Day with her husband, actor Ben Falcone. The pair already have three movies in the works, including a comedy called "Michelle Darnell" that McCarthy is attached to star in and produce in addition to writing the script with her husband.

The other two are both adaptations of books, with the first being based on a forthcoming book written and illustrated by Bruce Eric Kaplan. Called "Cousin Irv from Mars," the storyline centers on a boy and his weird, out-of-this-world cousin.

The second project has its roots in the self-help book "Just Do It: How One Couple Turned Off the TV and Turned On Their Sex Lives for 101 Days." McCarthy's attached to a role in that film as well.

On working together, the 42-year-old star and her husband tell THR that they've "been writing together for longer than we've been married ... To be able to produce our own work and other people's work that we are so passionate about is really a dream come true."

I would love to bone her. Not the chubby one, the one from the office.

... oh, what the heck... Who am I kidding? I'd probably bone the chubby one, too...

How many "awkward but confident gal" shows do we really need right now? Tina Fey as Liz Lemon was the best and now we've got Mindy Kaling and Zooey Deschanel doing it pretty well themselves. And I never found Ellie Kemper particularly funny.
