How Cissy Houston learned of Whitney's deathAlmost one year to the day after Whitney Houston's death, Cissy Houston is releasing "Remembering Whitney," a book about her daughter's extraordinary life and untimely demise. While promoting the memoir on “Oprah’s Next Chapter,” the 79-year-old gospel singer detailed the moment that she learned Whitney, nicknamed Nippy by her family, had died on February 11, 2012. “My son called me and he was screaming, ‘Mom, Mommy.’ Then, oh God. I said, ‘What is wrong, what’s wrong?’ He just said, ‘Nippy. Nippy.’ I said, ‘What’s wrong with Nippy?’ … I was getting annoyed because he wasn’t telling me anything. He said, ‘Mommy.’ I said, ‘Is she dead?’ And he said, ‘Yeah, Mommy, she’s dead.’ And I don’t remember too much else after that.” Oprah also spoke with Whitney’s brother Michael about doing drugs with his late sister. “It’s painful [to see what Cissy wrote in her book], you know? I feel responsible for, that I let it go so far,” he said. “Being together most of the time, and her following behind me … we played together, you know? Any everything that you do together as you’re growing up, and then when you get into drugs, you do that together too. And it just got out of hand.” Oprah’s interview with Cissy airs tonight on OWN at 10 p.m. ET. |

This show on OWN, last night and was one of the best shows that Oprah has done.
I feel, for Whitney's mother and knowing that her own son got Whitney on cocaine; then later tried to commit suicide from guilt of Whitney's death.
It had to take courage for him to confess that on national television.
Oprah can see clearly now that she is being used as a vessel to get people to release their pain.
ha
She was drowned by drug dealers that she owed big $$ to, and they still keep trying to put her on a pedestal. Bobby got his drug habit from Nippy, not the other way around.
I've always blamed Darryl Strawberry for her drug use...my bad
Did anyone notice during the Grand Homegoing Jubilee Celebration last year that not one white reporter said the nickname of "Nippy"? Oprah, Sharpton, Jackson, and the rest of the race baiting pimps were so paranoid that a white reporter would have a Don Imus moment and utter the infamous word "nappy".
Nippy and Nappy are two different things. Stop the madness.
About that time peope stop pointing fingers at "Sir Bobby Brown" for Whitney drug problems because she inherited that crack head lifestyle from her family...If Queen of England refused to knight bobby I just did by the way Ha Ha Ha
can we please head out
