Bradley Cooper open to playing Lance Armstrong

The inevitable Lance Armstrong biopic already has an interested star: Bradley Cooper.

The Oscar-nominated "Silver Linings Playbook" actor told BBC News that he "would be interested" in portraying Armstrong on film.

According to Deadline, a film of that nature is already in the works. The site reported last week that Paramount Pictures and Bad Robot's J.J. Abrams and Bryan Burk purchased movie rights to a book proposal about the cyclist's rise to heroic status and his subsequent fall from grace.

Cooper hasn't had any talks about taking on such a role, but if the production ever came calling for the 38-year-old actor, he's certainly game.

"I think he's fascinating. What a fascinating character," Cooper told the BBC. "I remember thinking, 'that would be a great character. I'd love to play that character.' I would love to do something, I think he's pretty fascinating."

What do you think - would Cooper be your pick to play Armstrong on the big screen?

I think he will do a good portrayal of Lance Armstrong. Too bad Lance has denied using the substance but not it made it even worse for him. He could have received some support if earlier on he had admitted to it. The doctor who has been providing him with the drugs needs to be liable also. Since the doctor doped him that doctor should lose his license.

After the disgrace of Armstrong admitting he took drugs and cheated, should all astronauts now have to face regular drug tests? Also, are astronauts good at cycling...

Mark-Paul Gosselaar would be perfect for this role. He competes as a Cyclist on a national level. Plus he has the right body type and look.

I think former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich would be a better choice. He too is a narcissist. He and Lance could collaborate in prison.

I think he would be great in the part. He even looks the part. My only concern is that the movie doesnt paint Lance as a victim especially with his Cancer DX. As difficult as that was to go throught it did not build character instead he marketed his sympathy for his own benefit. I also hope they touch on his marriage and how his wife stood by his side with two little children and how he dumped her for the limelight. Even before I found out about the doping I though he was a jerk!

spot on! Why even make a movie? Let's put Lance on the back burner of history, or use his life as a morality lesson for children. Lying liar, that's what Lance is.

He deserves no lasting credit to his 'career.'

Cooper has two balls, so no he won't be good. Elijah Wood is smaller and probably only carrying one is his gym shorts. He's a better choice.
