'Jeffersons' actor Ned Wertimer diesCharacter actor Ned Wertimer, known to fans of "The Jeffersons" as the doorman Ralph Hart, has died, CNN confirms. He was 89. Wertimer made appearances in a wide variety of classic TV series, including "Mork and Mindy," "WKRP in Cincinnati" and "The Mary Tyler Moore Show," but he's perhaps best known for his work on "The Jeffersons."
Wertimer stayed with the comedy, which portrayed Sherman Hemsley and Isabel Sanford as the newly wealthy African-American couple George and Louise Jefferson, for 11 seasons. (Hemsley died in July 2012 at the age of 74, and Sanford died in 2004.) A rep for Wertimer tells CNN that the actor passed away January 2 from complications stemming from a fall he sustained in his Burbank home in late November. Throughout his career, the Buffalo, New York native worked extensively on Broadway and appeared in more than 100 TV programs. |

Who?? What about the guy who played the parking attendent on the show. He died, too. Is there no justice for the dead?

back when tv was good
Ralph was very funny as well as the whole cast of "The Jefferson's" – one of the best sitcoms ever! What a cast!!!!!!
RIP Louise, Ralph and George.
Ralph was great for the show! I loved him. That serious tip look always made me laugh. Great man may he rest in peace. God bless his family
love the show was a great era some espoides dealt with real life issues even today we can learn from r.i.p all those legends from past tv shows and the legends we loss jt recently on tv and in the movies
He did the roll well. Couldnt be done toda. May you rest in peace sir...all the dumb dumbs posting irrelevant comments. If you ever are important enough for an obituary hope the same is done in your name...
'The Jeffersons' is one of my all-time favorite TV shows, and Ralph's constant pandering for tips from George was just one of the many things that makes the show timelessly hilarious.
May Ned Wertimer rest in peace.
He was a GREAT actor ! R.I.P : )
He's, moving on up.
So I guess Florence is the only one of the regular cast that is left... Unless you count Lionel and Jenny but they were really more All in the Family regulars.
The Lionel character played by Mike Evans died last year. The other Lionel I think is still alive
mike evans died in 2006
Great show.
WHY ISN'T ANYONE LAUGHING? BAAAAAAAAAAAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Once they take a fall at that age, it seems like it is the first sign of the grim reaper coming soon. RIP Sir and thanks for the laughs.

I have returned.
and they never follow through..they are always crying for attention and offer nothing.
and they just die and you lose hope -
all there, clicks and cuts lines off in the middle of conversations...RIP
don't call people stupid...how's are the hard drives doing....mothers computer is blocked fix it...
why do people always write stupid it!
as you can see i am not black from your computer screen...we have blacks wh0 are doctors and lawyers. this is 2013...
the jeffersons was a very funny show and people did not appreciate it because these people were black and whites have a tendency even today to look down upon blacks.
Oh that makes sense given the show was resoundingly so popular for over a decade while being on the air 30 years ago...give me a break.
we have others...
until target is named... thanks. can't be nice...proceed.
I loved the house keeper keeping George in check.
its great writing but its the same thing. i have a right to an opini0n.
its still the same story, 7,489,272 times....its written well but its still the same personal problems this blogger is having turned into the storyline of a show....are you the one that cannot find your boyfriend since august?

My condolences to his family. Seemed like he was in EVERY 1970's sitcom there was.
the jeffersons was a hysterical show...i still laugh at the beginning of the show when george and his wife get out of the car strutting to the elevator to head to his apartment in the sky.
because we make sure they are not...duh...what planet are you on...
