The most-pirated TV shows of 2012

“Game of Thrones” nabs the No. 1 spot on TorrentFreak’s list of 2012’s most-pirated TV shows.

The HBO drama, pictured above with Peter Dinklage, was downloaded more than 4 million times, and was especially popular in Australia, according to the site.

Showtime’s “Dexter,” which occupied the top spot last year, fell to No. 2.

TorrentFreak notes that about 80% of TV piracy occurs outside the United States, and it’s mostly fueled by a lack of availability of such shows.

Here are the 10 most-pirated TV shows this year, according to TorrentFreak:

1. “Game of Thrones”
2. “Dexter”
3. “The Big Bang Theory”
4. “How I Met Your Mother”
5. “Breaking Bad”
6. “The Walking Dead”
7. “Homeland”
8. “House”
9. “Fringe”
10. "Revolution"

    I don't have TV service, so yeah - I grabbed every episode of 1, 9, and 10.

Never seen any of 2-8 though.

The top 2 make sense – but aren't the rest of them included in cheap basic cable packages?

No wonder GOT is at #1. Best show on TV in a very long time. But as article states, there are 2 reasons why these shows are on the list.
    1. They are not available in most countries
    2. In order to watch Game of Thrones even in US, you need TV subscription and a premium HBO channel. HBO should make its' GO service available as hulu, instead of forcing everyone to subscribe to TV provider.

HBO will probably end up doing a paid subscription service for World Wide Web based streaming by 2020. As long as the cost to the customer is the same, the cable and satellite will not have much argument against the service.

I don't watch any of those shows. But I sure am going to miss Paige Wyatt from American Guns because Discovery cancelled it.
She's the kind of woman you would draw if you knew how to draw.
