Anne Hathaway on that wardrobe malfunctionCameras caught a bit too much of Anne Hathaway when the 30-year-old actress arrived at the premiere of "Les Misérables" on Monday. Dressed in a fitted black gown with a high slit but, as we came to learn, no underwear, Hathaway flashed onlookers as she exited her vehicle.
It's unclear if she was aware in the moment that she was giving the paparazzi an eyeful with her exit strategy, but the photo of her commando appearance quickly spread across the Web on Tuesday. So when the "Les Misérables" star, who just picked up a SAG nomination for her portrayal of Fantine in the Tom Hooper film, showed up on "Today" Wednesday, Matt Lauer had to get the wardrobe malfunction out of the way. (It was tough to miss Lauer's opening line, "Seen a lot of you lately.") Of the lessons learned, Hathaway responded that it was "obviously an unfortunate incident. It kind of made me sad, on two accounts. One was that I was very sad that we live in an age when someone takes a picture of another person in a vulnerable moment and, rather than delete it and do the decent thing, sells it." Not forgetting the reason she was there, Hathaway went on that she's "sorry that we live in a culture that commodifies sexuality of unwilling participants, which brings us back to 'Les Mis,' because that's what my character is. She is someone who is forced to sell sex to benefit her child because she has nothing, and there's no social safety net. So let's get back to 'Les Mis.'" If there was an award for giving a well-played response to a question about an embarrassing moment, Hathaway just might've scored herself a nod. |

Of course, it was a planned strategic flashing to get publicity and try to shake her "good girl" image. She hates her "good girl" image. She wants to be a bad girl, so here begins her descent into the realm of Lindsay Lohan.
I think there are a lot more people that enjoyed her brief display than didn't. She shouldn't cow-tow to the usual loud, puranical hypocrits that crawl out of their holes whenever something normal like this happens.

She was wearing a very elegant dress created my a major designer. Panty lines ruin the look of the gown. Most of the stars wearing glamorous evening gowns do not wear undergarments. Not surprising the low lifes posting here cannot understand fashion.

If the women was so conservative and concerned, why did she go commando? Inquiring minds want to know. 🙂 Most women would wear underwear and also be extremely conscious of the way they exited the vehicle, so that their panties would not show.
There is a really simple solution so this never happens again. You want to go commando, do it at home in private. You leave the house, you wear underwear....voila next story. You refuse to wear underwear and you are wearing a short skirt, you get what you get. End of story.

At the same time, so called photographers and reporters wouldn't post this kind of "news" if people weren't interested. Who cares why Hathaway decided to leave her underwear at home? Common decency dictates you shouldn't take pictures and expose someone.

Matt Lauer is the biggest tool on television. Someone should give him an atomic wedgie and ask him what he thinks about it.
I think he may have a tool inferiority complex, perhaps that's why he acted out. At least he didn't use a phrase involving the word "camel". Although that is actually meant for a slightly more covert form of exposure.
Anne is one of the few bright young beautiful stars around. I am pretty sure she just listened to a wardrobe adviser in not wearing an undie.
We know there are really Paps that hit the ground just to get some lucky Britney shots for some big money. One got lucky and I am pretty sure that if Anne was wearing an underwear that this Pap would still try to make some money out of it.

The same thing happened to Carmen Miranda. Cesar Romera was lifting her up in the air in a photo shoot. A series of photos were taken and one got lucky and ended up being a crotch shot (no undies). It ruined her career. Pretty sad.
She needs to get over herself. If you go out to a public event with hundreds of cameras trained on you and you wear a dress sliced up to your waist and no underwear .... well, no f'n s*** you're going to get you landing strip posted all over the internet.

I think her response was spot on! I do not believe she intentionally flashed her nether region for all to see, and people telling her to just wear undies would still probably crucify her for flashing the camera a shot of her knickers! If we lived in a world where no one cared about this, it wouldn't make money and paps would not go out of there way to get those "money" shots! I am not saying that the photographer in question did it deliberately, however, I do have to question why this individual was down at waist level to take these pictures. If not Anne, it could have been any other actress who suffered a similar mishap. Quit bedeviling her, she addressed it and is not going to let it affect her life!
She would garner more sympathy if she hadn't slammed Lohan and Spears for sending the wrong message to young girls, years ago, for the same mishap.

Wait, whose fault is this? She didn't wear underwear. Papps were taking photos of her exiting the car. Which happened to catch the fact she chose not to wear underwear. From the way she portrays it we'd have to believe the papps got word from her stylist or driver she wasn't wearing undies and so the photogs lay in wait knowing that's the photo they'd grab. Absurd.
