Trailer Park: 'Star Trek Into Darkness'This would be one case in which the film title really does say it all. The teaser trailer for "Star Trek Into Darkness" is grim from start to finish, as it focuses on the havoc Benedict Cumberbatch's much-speculated-about villain aims to unleash.
[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=diP-o_JxysA%5D Directed by J.J. Abrams, who also helmed 2009's "Star Trek," "Into Darkness" sees the Enterprise crew facing an evil that emerged from their own organization. As images of destruction play out with plenty of explosions, Cumberbatch's one-man terror force starts in with his ominous questioning. "You think your world is safe?" Cumberbatch says. "It is an illusion. A comforting lie told to protect you." And then, the warning: "Enjoy these final moments of peace. For I have returned to have my vengeance." Judging from the minute-long clip, it'll involve provoking Captain Kirk (Chris Pine), Uhura (Zoe Saldana) and Spock (Zachary Quinto) into battle. "Star Trek Into Darkness" opens May 17, 2013. What do you think of the clip? |

Looks like the Enterprise gets punked once again by the bad guys. Can't we come up with a story line that allows the biggest and baddest starship of all time to kick some butt once in awhile?
Holy crap how many amateur pseudo-intellectual hipsters are there? Just watch the damn movie and enjoy it for the spectacle it was intended to be. Not every movie has to be analyzed like anovel.
Relax. Just sit back and be entertained without dissecting every bit and examining it for anything more than fun.
A coherent storyline, sets, and special effects make for great Star Trek.
The 2009 film made Star Trek V look incredibly good by comparison, and that one handily had the "honour" of the worst of the lot in my opinion until then. If they avoid the paper mache thin villain and almost as thin Mission Impossible style plot with pointless action scenes then this one just might be watchable for more than two minutes.
And to comment briefly on Starship Troopers as it was mentioned not far up there in the comments. That film sucks horribly if placed anywhere near the much better book but it does almost work as a brainless sci-fi flick. Way too much skin does nothing for it at all, but there are enough moments in it with the newsclips and battle scenes that made it worth the $3.96 I recently paid for the DVD in the bargain bin.
Rather see the series go forward, not backward. I have trouble watching movies about the original crew when TNG has already "happened". Get creative! Wesley Crusher as captain, Sulu's daughter, maybe the kids of the other crew members. I just think it would be more fun.
Seriously? Crusher as captain? I can think of anything more that I wouldn't want to see. He was absolutely the worst thing about TNG, I hated him on the show. Whinny little brat. I am a huge TNG fan, but they never made a good movie with that cast. The movies were horrible, the decisions made for the direction of characters was terrible. Every 2 part episode of TNG was better than any of the movies with that cast. I wanted them to be good, but it didn't happen. 'The Best of Both Worlds" would have been a perfect movie. I think they did a great job bringing Start Trek to a new fan base, let's be honest the franchise was going nowhere. Of course things were changed, but it was a creative way to do it. By the villain going back in time and changing the future it allowed them the ability to bring new stories to light and bring Star Trek to a new audience.
I, as a trekkie and like many others, balk at the special effects vomitted on screen.
But the weird thing is, these movies are inspiring non trekkies to watch the older series (all available in their entirety on Netflix and Amazon Prime). Those people in turn discover the new movies are crap and the old series deserve new life.
So if we can keep the phasers out of our mouths until this is over, we might get a new show out of it.
The villian is from the TOS episode Where NoMan Has Gone Before. The blonde in the trailer looks too much like the Sally Kellerman character from that episode.
try to get the help you need and work on the self esteem.
Reblogged this on Stf Pourpre.
so bad its laughable.
I really liked the preview of the next Batman movie. What? Oh, I mean Star Trek movie.
if bairzy sucks...i want to wear this review out.
I dont care if the movie blows...I just want to see Zoe in a torn up uniform
It's a frustrating trailer, as many are when released this early – the producers are juggling marketing angles against having limited complete footage to select from. Given the projected release date, there's probably little finished film available for trailer use.
As far as the debate of content/character versus effects/action – it's a false dilemma. There's no reason why an intellectually or emotionally satisfying movie can't also feature exciting action, or fantastic visuals. Simply because many lesser filmmakers are more adept at the latter than the former doesn't exclude the existence of directors capable of wielding both, and I'd argue that Abrahms is a talented example.
Chill out, have faith, and don't act so gosh darn old.
All those potential plots and they settle on another tired super-villain with a Brit accent plot, like every stupid super-hero movie.
Just what I was thinking...Kahn, Nemesis, Nero...how many Star Trek movies are going to be about a vengeful villain that the crew must stop from carrying out his evil plans? Been there, done that.

abrams was too late
The narrative is a complete rip-off of the Star Wars The Old Republic "Deceived" verbiage – goog le it and watch that trailer on Youtu be. Not surprising that there's nothing new from this kiddie fair. Abrams destroyed the IP.
Agreed. It would be equally judicious if someone rebooted Abrams garbage, brought back Vulcan, realigned canon to ... I dunno... canon, and gave us some depth that Star Trek never had much of, sorely needs, and reverses Abram's catering to 13 year olds.
seems like an overdead horse if this is about rehashing the eugenics wars & evils of that era in a pre-quil...
the 09 trek was a flop.. this doesn't look much better.. and wouldn't have hopes to spawn a tv series again– perhaps ths is an end for the trek era.
The 09 STar Trek was a flop? You call $385 million worldwide box office flop? It is the highest US & Canada box office grossing of all Star Trek movies.
Or was it the 97% it scored on Rotten Tomatoes, making it the best reviewed of all the Trek movies? Does that makes it a flop?
LOL, you nitwit
What he (Frankster) said...
Yeah; if you're gonna use a word you might want to understand the commonly-accepted meaning. You may have not like the first Abrams Trek, you might have hated it beyond words, but it was by no rational definition a "flop." I can't stand the Transformers movies, yet I'd be a complete fool if I tried to argue that they were flops.
Sorry, they lost this fan of decades with the reboot, with their revision of canon, destruction of Vulcan, and a shallow Fast and the Furious sequel wrapped in a Star Fleet uniform. They trashed the franchise, I'm afraid. I watched this trailer and it meant nothing to me.
Been a fan of original series , and all the movies.......some better then others , but all true to trek in one way or another. Some people are just unwilling to change with the times....Narrow minds. "Not Logical"
Luckily, the new series is bringing in millions of new fans, as evidence by the record box office sales of the 09 film, so they probably don't care much if a bunch of aging grouchy fanboys of the old series don't like it.
Yeah, guess so. LOL. Can't wait for the reboot of Star Wars, too, where Luke is a girl, there's no Death Stars, and instead of Jedi, they have the Ewok Guard. Thanks, but when you resort to rebooting the canon with the series, you've lost the plot. Literally.
To me A good story line is more important than any array of special effects. Gene and his team were very attuned to social and cultural issues, incorporating them into the story lines. Hopefully the special effects don't dwarf content and the movie is somewhat focused on potential or real topics that we face as people and society.
Ya, and some, nay MANY, of TOS plots were real yawners. IT wasn't until The Wrath of Kahn that the series became legendary. Then it went slowly downhill again.
The 09 StarTrek was a great (re) start. Nobody nowadays is gonna sit around and watch 90 minutes of The Enterprise and her crew trying to outwit a know-it-all Voyager spacecraft from earth. Can you say "yawn"?
The value of Star Trek is the commentary on social issues to which people relate after watching the film. The after-effects are what drew the Trekkies to the show... and though the Trekkies are often portrayed as the geek/nerd crowd, they are also those with a strong social conscience who enjoy seeing their cultural values explode onto the big screen, fight those who oppose them, and prevail with victory and a better world.
Also, it is fun to see things blow up.
If they get too fancy with the special effects and forget to include the usual Star Trek banter, humor, and subtle gestures, then the movie will be little more than a special effects demo tape.
special effects!!! yummy yummy!!!!!
They are making a big mistake if you ask me . . . . they are trying to juice everything up with special effects, and end up putting more into special effects than into creating a good story line. Gene Roddenberry wrote good story lines, a lot of them with subtile story themes . . . I didn't see much of that from Abrams, and I doubt this film has much in that regard.
I liked the first movie, but this just looks like they took all the special effects from the Transformer movies and converted it into "star trek" it has the same look, CGI with lots of broken stuff flying around (yawn). TOS was about stories more than special effects. If you lose that premise, it WONT be Star Trek.
So...is it not supposed to look cool? I'll take JJ Abrams, over Michael Bay, every day of the week.
This movie is going to have a built in audience and will be critic proof. It doesn't matter how good or bad people think this or future trailers are for this movie...This movie is a guaranteed mega hit....
Yes, "Into Darkness" will be a hit and certainly open big, but of course quality matters. The second film will open huge because people generally really like the first, and the third will open huge if the second elicits similar feelings. If the studio doesn't care about future Trek films, then they would be willing to cheap out, hire substandard writers, replace cast, etc. Think "Superman IV"; The studio went ultra cheap, relying on the Supes brand to sell the movie, and they murdered the franchise for 20 years.
burp
Yup, can always tell when five-year-olds get computer access.
Too much Fade-in/fade-out in the trailer. Looks like a video game, as a result, and such stylistic masturbation always suggests to me (and rightly) that they are trying to hide something. I enjoyed Star Trek 11 (or 12, if we include Galaxy Quest in the order, which we should) but the fade-heavy trailer underwhelms me.
On the contrary, it does EXACTLY what a trailer SHOULD do–it piques interest without giving the plot away. Look, JJ KNOWS we are going to see this, and he doesn't need to give away anything to get us to go. I only wish more movie makers could feel so confident. I actually refuse to go to movies who give away too much in the trailer. Three cheers for the best trailer I've seen in decades.
You're absolutely right. This trailer was underwhelming at best and nothing special at all. They are trying to copy The Dark Knight, but this doesn't even come close. It's drab and lifeless. If anybody wants to waste $12 on watching explosions and Bane impersonations, then this will be the film for them.
Even the CGI sux, pause it a few times and take a look, the CGI is weak . . .
It was a cool trailer in all, but it told me nothing about this movie in the sense of who that guy is or why he's attempting to get vengeance of any kind.
That's why they are called teasers...........duh. Yeah, I would rather they just ruin the movie by laying it all out before I get to see it. Good plan.
its cool
Offense throws first punch.
Trek fans, awesome free ebook, Elementary, My Dear Spock, at http://www.extremelysmart.com/magrathea

i got it in all the traps because its stupid...i'll give you back the traptop at some point and you can finish the job.
alec needs my attention..ha!
The 2009 Start Trek movie: Explosion Man meets hormone-soaked gonad. 2013 Start Trek movie: Revenge of Explosion Man undoubtably with several sides of gonads. Star Trek died after TNG. "To boldly go where no one has gone before" has turned into "to explode more than anyone has exploded before"- RUBBISH!
is ours.
tic
If you don't like the reboot then keep watching reruns of Voyager and Enterprise whilst saving for tuition to send your kids to Klingon summer Camp, for the rest of us who thought the franchise turned into rotten swiss cheese after TNG this is amazing!
Amen Brother!
Well stated.
And what makes you think anyone that didn't like the reboot loves Voyager and Enterprise. If you love dumb action and depression just for the sake of seeming "edgy," then I'd suggest you continue saving to send your kids to the TNG Talifan Summer Camp and watch Generations for the 1000th time.
Well said half!
What's with everyone ignoring DS9? That series was awesome, and I'd say better than TNG, in terms of overall story arc and characterization, plus there were distinctly fewer Holodeck misadventures episodes.
Boldly Gone-had to repost sorry
I enjoyed th Galactica reboot and even enjoyed the last Star Trek film after accepting it more as a spinoff than a reboot. But I have to agree that the "trouble back home" plot has been milked dry. Even the last year of Enterprise flogged the "let's hang around Earth" concept. And these characters are too new to kill off and care about. They don't have any established history with each other like the old kirk/spock. It's just rushing an unecessary plot point for the sake of some shock factor. May not happen anyway.
Of course, when do you give a navy recruit fresh out of school an aircraft carrier? If you can overlook that small tidbit relating to Kirk and the Enterprise in the last movie, then you can overlook anything. Maybe a Star Wars/Trek cross over is next. They already think we're stupid so who knows.

... you give an officer the job because he is the most experienced and shows the most potential. Plus I think the viable candidates were rather thin at that point in time (they lost the majority of the home fleet). Remember, Pike had an interest in Kirk because of his father's sacrifice: he wrote a decertation on it.

You forgot to mention time travel. I'm so sick of the stupid time travel in ST. ST4, STFirst contact, ST reboot. Plus the timelessness of Generations and the time stopping in Insurrection. Gag me with a watch!
"a decertation" - a what???? Man, learn how to spell before you hop on the internet, k?

There was a bar scene with funny-looking aliens in each movie.

Seriously, is no one going to mention that the song for the trailer is the exact same one from the Prometheus trailer?!?
Huge fan of the reboot and captain Picard Star Trek! I can't wait to see this!
So, what's the significance? Is an alien going to bust out of Scotty's stomach?

Spock was more experienced, and he was there. Made no sense that the entire bridge would end up manned by newbies, since I have to assume that there are hundreds to thousands of officers in Starfleet that had actually put in the time and work to deserve to be there.
right on
Can't wait for this new film. I'm 53 and still enjoy the Star Trek movies and shows. This is better than a lot of the new movies in theatres and TV. It's about time they found people with real talent for acting. Great cast.
The first movie ripped off Star Wars, this one's ripping off The Dark Knight? When will it end?
Because they destroyed a planet? Yeah... that's not exactly a new plot device in the scifi world. It wasn't even new when Star Wars did it.
How was the first movie ripping off of Star Wars? Considering that in the Star Wars universe there are no such things as; time travel, alternate realities and or different plains of existence or even a thing called “red matter” that has destroy worlds with black holes then how could it be "ripping off Star Wars"? So please enlighten me on how that is so?
There was a bar scene with funny-looking aliens in each movie.
Yo, the first Star Trek movie was about V[oya]GER and its journey back to Earth. How in the sam hill is that ripping off Star Wars? Even though that film was a little slow, the story line was fan-freakin-tastic! What an idea! I like the science aspect of Star Trek. Star Wars was 100% conflict.
who's Planet Vulcan...
Are you out of your Vulcan mind?
I had a real problem with the destruction of the planet Vulcan in the last movie. If they do not correct that error in this next movie I will not watch any more of these movies. By destroying Vulcan JJ Abrams destroyed the entire time line of the original show.
That was the main plot point in the movie. The timeline was altered, becuase the bad guys went back in time.
Duh. It is a new timeline. That was the whole point. Nothing from the TV series will ever happen. It is completely fresh. THAT WAS THE POINT!
Um.... HELLO! That was the point! Due to what happened, there is now a different timeline. If not, we all KNOW what happens over the next several years. It was brilliant.
Nerd alert!!!
I guess I'm a traditionalist. I do not like this movie at all and I did not care for the last on either. PLEASE, please let this show rest in peace.
I really have a problem with the "let the show rest in peace" mentality. If you want to preserve your memory of the older shows....simply stay home. Times change, and a new generation should get the chance to see their own version of Franchises like Star Wars, Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica, etc... Personally I'm a fan of the old films/shows, but I also appreciate the new films. I have a feeling I'm in the majority on this one.
Are you kidding me this is one of America's Favorite stories Star Trek is going to be continued being remade just like Batman just like Star Wars just like Spiderman and every other movie like that out there all blockbuster hits I would even imagine the Pirates of the Caribbean We will be remade Within the next 10 to 20 years with all the new technology coming out that makes movies look more realistic 3-D augmented reality entertainment will definitely take a turn for the best in the future I can guarantee that. With American being the Leading entertainment industry with an unlimited supply of actors I'm sure there'll at least one guy that can play the part better than The original Kirk.
try thinking of it like a jazz variation. JJ is just improvising within a certain context, but is creating something new. It is a grand creative tradition. it makes the world more interesting. sometimes it makes the world a more interesting place. think Hendrix's version of "all along the watchtower". true, sometimes you are going to get Deep Space Nine but sometimes you are going to get the Next Generation
if we left well enough alone, the ST universe would become static and wither away. don't spend your time worry about someone moving your cheese. time to find a new cheese
I've seen the film at about 80% completion and found it to be very enjoyable. Excited to see the finished version in theaters.
Aren't we special?
Aren't we bitter, juvenile, and bit ridiculous there Maty?
he could still be in the movie....he doesn't want the part.
I want Q to make an appearance. LoL
I just saw the actor who played Q (John Delancy ?) in an episode of "Breaking Bad" took a while to recognize him.... beard, heavier but the voice is gave him away...
I guess Karl Urban's McCoy isn't in this movie?
are you kidding me Kay! He's in the clip more than anybody else besides Kirk. He's with Kirk in most of the shots.
i bought a red nightie at victoria secret a few days ago
Don't wear it on an 'away' mission, or you'll wind up marked off the crew.
does the sn@tch work ok? I dont like a tough snap when I want in...
The whole abramsverse really messed things up big time.
Star Trek meets Batman? Sort of feels like that. I met Roddenberry when I was ten. He was a genius. Looking forward to the film.
OBTW - How about a "Star Trek, into the Light" movie?
With earthquakes, tsunamies, nuke meltdowns, superstorms, wildfires, terrorists, riots, WMDs, stupid bickering politicians, don't we get enough of this in our daily lives? I long for the original values of Gene Roddenbery of intelligent beings and life forms working out their problems, not another
blow everything up, shoot em up Star Trek movie. I like to walk out of a
theater feeling wonder and amazement from a good Sci Fi flick, not feeling like I just left a war zone or deadly catastrophie.
Long live the ideas and ideals of Gene Roddenbery. A Star Ship crashing into SF bay? We will have the Big One to level SF soon enough. Why be reminded of it?
I agree that I watch Star Trek (fan from the very first episode shown ever) to uplift and remind me of how amazing humans can be and of the things that matter in life. I also agree with you that I wish Roddenberry were here to do this. The reboot was just odd to me...you can't cancel out a universe that existed in so many people's minds all the way from childhood and say it didn't exist or whatever they did without confusing people. The movies before the reboot and the series were about the positives and the relationships...the ideals and the care the characters had...their code of ethics and regard for equality and integrity. I have been a huge fan, but not sure I recognize the franchise now. I know characters have to change over time, but the show wasn't about explosions and violence in the beginning...sigh. I'm not sure how I feel about this now.
very true Ram
The first JJ ST was like a kid being given a set of immaculate and intricately detailed model planes from his dad's childhood and smashing them on a whim during 90 minutes of self-absorbed play. Vulcan is a key element in the ST universe and it was thrown away as nothing more than a plot device. I hope that with this movie there are no more ridiculous brewery, power substation and oil refinery sets or insanely overdone blinding lights in the camera. The slice-and-dice water turbine nonsense was right out of Galaxy Quest. I hope JJs second ST venture is not more of the same.
If you don't like the style of movie, don't watch it. There are plenty of movies I don't watch. There are some I do. The "voting" is done at the box office, etc.
Criticise all you want. I am desperate for any kind of Trek and any sci fi that will challenge my mind in the least bit. I will totally embrace this movie and pray that more follow. After all, look at our alternatives – UGH The only other sci fi movie franchise I would love to see revised is the Riddick chronicles....
Never cared much for any of the Star Trek movies, except maybe Wrath of Khan.
Your point being???
Well, since this is an even-numbered Trek movie, I'm sure it will rock.
Star Trek Enterprise might have done better if they hadn't chosen that horrible, cheesy opening theme song. I can only imagine Nimoy watching the intro, screaming in agony, "the pain, the pain!" I can't see the preview from my cell. Can someone tell me if they see any Vulcan chicks in this movie? Gotta' love those hot Vulcan chicks...ok, it's past my bedtime...Viva la Star Trek!
: D
I didnt wanna like the reboot but lovvvvvvveeed it. and i grew upon the original too.
I'm over 50 and I remember Star Trek from the time they used a stick shift for warp drive.
Live long and prosper. All hale Star Trek. To boldly go where no man had gone before.
I just wish Gene was still here to ensure it is done right.
They still use a stick shift. Sulu (John Cho) was seen using it to start the warp engines.
Looks like another "things blow up real good" movie. Have to see one a year as guilty pleasure, when in the mood and don't mind losing some more of my hearing.
Personally waiting for Dec 26th as have the day off and go see Les Miserables.
Until they go back and finish the TNG Nemesis storyline and show Data getting repaired, they can kiss my butt! that dumb move of making us think the most beloved character in Trek history had died almost destroyed the franchise. they need to take care of that unfinished business before the actors are all too old to do another movie.
The Star Trek which was created by Gene Rodenberry and concerned with issues and ideas is gone. All that is left is the J J Abrams alternate reality money machine.
Go play Star Trek Online. It is all explained there.
It amazes when I see Star Trek fans bashing the reboot, do you not remember how absolutely terrible the majority of Star Trek films have been? Time travel for whales, Jesus Spock, Picard and Fat Ass Kirk, Skin-stretching Aliens, Picard evil teenager Romulan clone??? Seriously, look at that dreck.
I agree about the Star Trek movies... they were really bad! I was always SO disappointed... The reboot I like a lot!
Time travel...Spock...Skin-stretching Aliens...Romulan...
Sounds like the reboot to me.
HAHAHAHAHA!!! Totally!
I am not sure what to make of it so far. The idea of trouble back on earth for a storyline has been flogged to death. I would have prefered another deep space adventure against other aliens of some sort. Also don;t see this one drawing on past star trek culture or themes that could be expanded. But I will go see it for sure, love the new characters!
I'm sure not ready for any of them to die just yet. We need time for them to grow roots, you know?.
While nowhere near as bad as that miserable reboot of "Battlestar Galactica", they should've left well enough alone: the "Star Trek" reboot sucked! Poorly cast, badly written, and just not very good at all but at least it didn't get the usual "TV show becomes Movie" treatment, becoming a sadly inadequate comic parody of the original populated by a completely talentless cast, (think, "Starsky & Hutch").
My very first memory of life is watching the premiere of "Star Trek" on a 12-inch black & white Zenith in fall of '66. Some things should be left alone, especially the ones that cannot be improved upon. "Trek" is one of them!
I had my doubts while waiting for the '09 reboot. But I was pleased with it, after all. With all the pressure on the cast to follow the originals, I think they pulled off really well. Of course they won't ever become near as iconic. Still, I'm looking forward to "Into Darkness." If you want to talk about a movie that sucks beyond belief..."The Dark Knight Rises" is it. Man, was that a disappointment or what? I swear, it seems like Nolan was nowhere near the set while that movie was in production.
Sorry. I missed an "it" back there.
Jerry, you know you are in the vast minority regarding your assessment of the Star Trek reboot, right? And there may be a half dozen viewers on the planet who would call the BSG reboot anything close to "miserable." And "leave well enough alone"? The original BSG was laughably bad and a complete and utter low-rent rip-off of Star Wars - which is why it lasted a fast minute on television.
Way to parrot the 'sci fi blogosphere' regarding Battlestar. People such as you don't even like the genre- most of the classic prose sci fi weaves dramatic themes and interpersonal relationships into the storylines, from Heinlen and Phillip K Dick to OSC and Hannu Rajaniemi. Perhaps the next Sandra Bullock film might be up your alley?
Sorry, Jerry...BSG Re-imagined was one of the best soap operas to have ever been televised. And the ST Reboot wasn't bad at all, surpassing more than half of the other ST films imo. I'm guessing you're one of those few who hated Starship Troopers, am I right?
Poorly cast? I can see objections to the divergence from what Star Trek started out as, or to the plot directions they took, but that cast was amazing. Captured the characters perfectly. Name a better cast: money is no object.
May the force be with you while you search for the one ring to rule them all
Loved the reboot of Star Trek so looking forward to this one...
The Trailer sux , Star Trek is a high standard to reach. I think we got a dud on its way.
I really enjoyed the new Star Trek cast and launch. I am looking forward to the next film and hope this crew stays aboard for a while to come.
I am so psyched and will be there on opening day!
wait, your name is 'Mary',which emplies your female. So your a female who loves Star Trek?????? What sorcery is this?!?!?!?!?!?
Klingon_red_shirt... Maybe Mary Ann is really Marion, which can be a man's name. LOL
@ Klingon_red_shirt – I'm a female and I like Star Trek! I grew up watching TNG with my dad and older brother, it's in my blood! Over the summer HBO had most of the original movies on so I DVR'd them and watched them in my spare time, which pretty much everyone thought was the nerdiest thing ever. Whatever, I enjoyed it! 🙂
cant wait to see it
stoopid
we're trekkies ....
The villain is one of the following: Gary Mitchell, Garth Of Izar or Kahn. My money is on Gary Mitchell, but the accent makes me wonder.
I like the new Kirk so far, but can he do a convincing "KHAAAAAAAANNNN!!!" ?
Interesting ideas, especially Garth. He didn't come to mind for me. Gary Mitchell does make the most sense, though, and his character has a lot of the motivations and timeline corruption/alternate universe associations Abrams enjoys working with.
we can blow star trek to the moon...enjoy this movie and the rest of your evening....
The "R" in J J Abrams name stands for "Robin."
The little boy standing behind Ursula in the "shocked crowd" scene is Robin.
Who is Robin? care to spill last name and who is he anyways?
