Overheard: 'Walking Dead's' new cast member on zombie co-stars

"Walking Dead" fans were looking forward to the introduction of Tyreese on Sunday night's episode, and so far actor Chad Coleman seems to have knocked it out of the park as the leader of another group of survivors.

Coleman spoke to reporters earlier this week about what it's like being the new guy on the set of the hit series, which just happens to be filled with zombie extras.

"The zombies are so real, so it's really no acting required, you just see the amazing work that's being done ... It's just eerie," he said.

"The most eerie part of it is to see them just doing regular things, like going to lunch break - just to watch a guy getting the salad dressing, and he's all made up, all zombied out. It's pretty hilarious."

Of course, after Coleman's role on "The Wire," the inevitable comparisons would be made. But "The Walking Dead," he said,  "is far more physical [than 'The Wire']. Even though I was training in the gym I still find myself more winded than I was on 'The Wire.' .... "I'm not saying I'm out of shape, don't misread, but it's a lot more physical."

Coleman and the rest of the "Walking Dead" cast return on February 10.

I will never forget the very first time I saw WD. It creeped me out like no other TV show has ever done before. (I'm a 50's male.) Frank Darabont was masterful!! This IS the best show on television. A bit graphic at times, but it's awesome.

I was surprised (in a good way) to see that Coleman would join the cast of The Walking Dead. I have recently been re-watching HBO's The Wire, finishing up Season 3 of 5. Anyways, Coleman really gave some depth of character in his Dennis "Cutty" Wise. Anyone that has not seen the Wire, should. Even though soem of the technology they deal with in the Wire is sorta dated 8 years after it was filmed, I tell you the drama sure does remain relavent–It'd be relevent in Ancient Rome as much as modern America.
