Ben Savage, Danielle Fishel join 'Girl Meets World'Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel are officially parents - on TV, that is. The rumored "Girl Meets World" sequel series now has both original "Boy Meets World" cast members on board to return to their roles of Cory Matthews and Topanga Lawrence, who in the new series are parents of the protagonist, a teen girl.
Savage, 32, confirmed via Twitter Monday that the series is "officially happening," and Fishel, 31, backed him up on Tumblr. She explained that in order to get the sequel series off the ground, there were plenty of conversations with those who were integral to the casting and creation of "Boy Meets World," which ran for seven seasons from 1993 to 2000 ( the re-runs of are probably airing somewhere right now). The '90s hit has a devoted fanbase, and Fishel assured them that co-creator Michael Jacobs and her co-stars Savage, Rider Strong and Will Friedle feel just as strongly as she does about creating a new show that holds up to the original. "[T]he seven wonderful years we spent making 'BMW' ... were among the most warm, hilarious, insightful, educational years of my life and I wouldn’t trade them for the world," Fishel said. "Another thing I wouldn’t trade for anything is the integrity and the heart with which 'BMW' was made. I promise with the entirety of my heart that we will make 'GMW' with the same honesty, innocence, and intelligence that you learned to expect from 'BMW.'" She doesn't know how many of the original cast members would return for "Girl Meets World" or how often they'd appear if they did sign up, but she does emphasize that "Girl Meets World" is a new show. "It isn't 'BMW' brought back to life," Fishel wrote. "It will have familiar faces, familiar themes and familiar messages. It will also have new faces, new themes and new messages. 'BMW' never spoke down to the audience and we are going to do our best to never do that with 'GMW.' But please keep in mind that this will be episode one, of season one, of a brand new show. We started at the same place with 'BMW' but we evolved and we evolved quickly. For those of you who knew and loved 'BMW,' please allow this show to evolve as well." I think you should cast Bailee Madison as their daughter!! I absolutely love her and think she would do awesome for this show! :). I think once people hear that she plays the daughter, it will bring in a lot more viewers!

Based on the reading comprehension level of a lot of the commenters here, I hope that the producers don't get into any deep plot lines. Their target audience doesn't even understand the casting.

They really don't match as a couple. She is an 8 and he is a 4 out of 10. He looks like an average blue collar factory worker. In real life she would dump that zero and get her a hero. A rich guy.

Fishel is 31 years old. How is she going to be able to play the role of a 13 year old girl. I like the concept but just don't think it is going to work.
Fishel's not playing the role of Riley. She's playing Topanga, Riley's MOM.
She will be playing the "girls" mother you moron.
She could easily pass for 17 years old at our high school. She is really kute. I just know about 13 years old though. Plus that guy looks about 45. He kind of looks like the bald guy George from Seinfeld.

I’ve love to see Nucky come out on top – Owen and Margaret are the classics, Nucky gives them everything and then somehow he’s the bad guy? They went in like everyone else with eyes open. WIll he kill them before or after Gyp? The closing shot of the season may just be Nucky wearing Gyp’s guys like a necktie. How do the Chicago guys come into play on this? Torrio didn’t come, but maybe Al Capone wants to spill blood with Nucky. And most importantly, how does Nucky taking over Mellon’s whiskey factory change the equation?
Also, with the assorted historical characters thrown in – you know Lucky Luciano and Meyer Lansky and Al Capone all make it through the 20s, not sure when Capone went down, but it was much later. Rothstein is murdered in 1928. Was it Nucky?

The math from TV Line makes no sense. They say it takes place 10 years after the end of Boy Meets World, but the Matthews' have a 13 year old daughter. Cory and Topanga certainly did not have a 3 year old daughter at the end of Boy Meets World.
I was trying to figure out the same thing. Not a good sign to have such a gigantic plot hole so early. Hopefully just a typo.

Since when were TV shows confined to the timeline of reality? BMW is imperfectly perfect, continuity issues and all. GMW is a brand new show and they can make any plot line they want to, no?
The show ended in 2000. Depending on when the Pilot airs it can be plausabe that they would have a 13 year old. Plus Danielle said that it is not bringing "Boy Meets World back to life, Girl Meets World is a new show"
They crossed out 10 years and changed it to MORE than 10 years...
This show will be good. Not sure if it will be great like Boy Meets World was/is. I am excited to see the first episode.
Sounds good. Television can have a little more class for a change.
