Oprah gives marriage advice to Justin BieberOprah Winfrey's interview with Justin Bieber - you know, the one in which they discussed his love for his now presumed ex-girlfriend, Selena Gomez - aired on Sunday night, revealing that the media titan had some relationship advice for the young star. Oprah heard that Bieber, now just 18, wants to be married by the time he's 25 - a goal that Oprah didn't think was so wise.
"Rethink that, will ya?" Oprah advised. "I think 25's too young. I really do, and particularly for you. Your whole 20s is about discovering who you really are, and you owe that to yourself particularly because you are in the business that you're in, and there's not a lot of self-discovery time because so much is already defined for you." Bieber acknowledged that he still had a ways to go before he marked the quarter-life milestone anyway, and conceded that he would rethink his marriage-and-a-handful-of-kids plan. "You are Oprah, and [if] you're telling me not to get married at 25, I should probably listen to you," he said. His fans are probably also in support of Biebs holding off on walking down the aisle - unless it's to marry one of them, of course - but the teen star said during the interview that he also has "to be happy ... I can't be single my whole life." Especially when you consider the fact that fame has limited the poor kid's social circle. "It's hard," he said of being in such an intense spotlight. "I try to keep the people that have been around me since the beginning close to me. I really don't have a lot of friends. I have three close friends that I fly out to see me or iChat with or call, but that's really the truth." Yet it isn't fame that's changed him as much as age has. "I think people need to realize, like, I'm not changing, I'm just getting older," he told Oprah. "Even some people online are like, we miss the old Justin. And it's like, I'm just growing up, guys. Being a teen heartthrob is fun, I love the screams and the girls thinking I'm hot, that's not a bad thing. But I want it to be about my music, and I want people to really respect my music. This isn't a gimmick." |

I agree with what she said, 25 is way too young for a pop music star. Still I absolutely love his music and what he is doing, I already got my tickets at http://www.cheapjustinbiebertickets.com
I think both Oprah and Beiber are two of the dumbest luck stories of the century.
I hope Bieber finds a great guy to settle down with.
i want this little girl
stay busy not lazy
My music. Please.
This Kid is nothing short of Pathetic. He Can’t SING-IN-KEY Live & never could, he is 100% TONE-DEAF. He has AUTO TUNE turned to the MAX always which most can’t hear that because they do-not have a degree in music like I do. Sad to call his sound music. Totally Pathetic.
He's a power bottom.
How someone that has never been married can give relationship advice is beyond me. She, with all her money, can't control her weight, but she has all the answers. Get for real!
"But I want it to be about my music, and I want people to really respect my music."
Music?! MUSIC?! Can you even call it that?! The only thing girls idolize you for at the moment is your looks, so don't count on your music to keep your fans around once you hit your 20s.
I can't wait for the day where he has tons of kids with different women, doesn't have custody of any of them, has to pay child support, and then either kills himself or comes out of the closet. That'll be the day....
With a profound respect for Oprah and her intellect, she is NOT God. How should anyone of us be so arrogant to even think we will be alive from one day to the next, when it is God who gives us life. Justin should live his life and GET MARRIED, if that is what he wants to do.
If he marries, it better be Salina Gomez or some other chick with money. If he's smart, he would not have children for a long, long time as there are plenty of gold diggers out there.
People (personified ideas) are unique.
If Bieber were a Cherry Tree and Oprah an Oak Tree, the Oak Tree is giving the Cherry Tree "advice" on how to bear Cherry-Fruit.
-> Proof for Apostasy on earth – complete absence of wisdom (lit. white field; error-FREE realm).
Oprah is not married herself, but she is in a long term relationship. What I think she's trying to tell the Beib is to rethink his decision about getting married before 25. Because at that point in ones life they are still trying to figure out whom they are and to couple that with figuring out and understanding the other person as well will be tough on a marriage.
It'll all make sense when the Biebs comes out of the closet. He's gay, duh!
People, leave Oprah and Justin B alone. Get a life. I notice the writer of this stupid article has phrased the topic in such a way that you mean people can react to it. They are probably laughing somewhere. This is sad.
Oprah is a liberal stooge.
Typical comment from a liberal basher.
Grow up and get a life!
I can't wait till the world finds out that Bieber is actually a 31 year old female.
Can't "wait"
I can't to see him on "Where are they now: Celebrity Rehab".
I think both Oprah and Beiber are two of the dumbest luck stories of the century. They are both mediocre talents at best, but have been blessed with amazing publicity agents who had the insight and the means to promote the hell out of these people! On their own...these two would still be nothing special. I am tired of seeing their faces everywhere. Really what have they done for that’s so special? They are making millions to do nothing out of the ordinary. Oprah has hitched her wagon to more than a few shining stars who do have abilities. What a society we have to make such a fuss about nothing! Would we even recognize true talent if we saw it? It’s very sad when these are the people we look up to!
Does this clown really think he'll be respected for his music??
Oprah giving marriage advice is like Honey Boo Boo's mother giving advice on how to lose weight!
Oprah may want to investigate the value of her suggestions. She was never married, so she should avoid giving opinions on marriage. Find something constructive to do Oprah ! leave the poor kid alone.
Justin, you are about to jump the shark. You need to stop. Take a deep breath, and grow up. Number one, you arent black. And you cant pull it off so stop trying. Number two, learn to dress appropriatley for the venue. I dont care what you came from, other celecbs change in the limo. You dont meet the Primie Minister dressed like that, and you dont accept a major award dress loike you did in Hollywood. Did I mention that you arent black? Grow up kid or watch how fast you become yesterdays news Gangham Style.
I hope Bieber finds a great guy to settle down with.
was never a lazy woman she was always a go getter...more now then before
on his girlfriend.
oprah has a man who never cheats on her. good for her
I don't know how old anyone who commented on this page is, but I am currently 25– when I was 18 I for sure wanted to get married. I wanted to start that chapter in my life early because I wanted to be a "young, cool" dad, and, of course, a loving husband. As I was going through college I truly found myself–remember that 18 is still pretty darn young. My opinion changed a lot during my 4 years there. I think Oprah is right in saying that, "Hey, you should probably live a little before you make all of sorts of commitments." So before you "harpo[n]" Oprah for giving him relationship advice, remember back to when you were 18 and how you wanted your life to end up, and where you wanted to be in 10 years. I am not married, but hell I would give the kid the same advice. "Hey man, if you wanted to be married by 25, great; but hell it's a big world out there and you might want to see some of it before you have other priorities." Granted celebrities do live a COMPLETELY different life than us middle-classers.
I thought beiber was a lesbian
She is.
Ahhh, the advise of Miss Know-It-All about Marriage – something she has no knowledge of.
Money can't buy her Love ... and giving advise to someone else's child shows her stupidity.
She's been with the same guy since 1986: Stedman Graham. You should probably know a little about the topic, before posting. mmmKay?
Yea, but she is not married, so she needs to shut up. Shacking up with a man out of wedlock is much different than being married.
I thought Oprah was married to Gayle.
How can someone who has never been married. And also appears to have commitment phobia with regard to ever getting married be qualified to tell anyone when they should or should not get married? I think Oprah really should pass on giving such advice. All that comes across when she tells this young man to wait are her own fears that caused her to never marry herself. I am sure she had his best interest at heart but I respectfully feel she does not know enough about the subject to advise anyone.
Preach! You said it ALL! Oprah needs to hush on a matter she knows NOTHING about...
oprah ain't got no cheat - ya know!
And Oprah is qualified to give anyone advice on marriage because.....? She has all the answers to every life's problem it seems for one who is still overweight, unmarried, and had a life-long, not so successful, relationship that was on again and off again.
Poor Stedman stayed because he could never let go of all that power and money. Likely they have some sort of deal we will never know about. What ever works for them.....money may not bring happiness but it can certainly soften the blows.
