Chevy Chase departs 'Community'If you were especially looking forward to seeing more of Chevy Chase on "Community" when the show (finally) returns for its fourth season, we've got some bad news. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Chase and the producers of the cult favorite NBC comedy have mutually decided that Chase is off the show, effective immediately.
The 69-year-old actor portrayed Pierce Hawthorne on the series, and THR notes that his departure isn't expected to disturb production, with most of the season in the can. The site adds that it's not yet clear whether Chase's exit will be written in somewhere, but he is expected to appear in the season finale. But we have to make it to the season premiere first - after we'd added the "Community" premiere to our calendar for October 19, NBC announced just days prior that the season 4 opener had been bumped. "Community" will now premiere at 8 p.m. on February 7. |

Some folks bring joy when they arrive, Chevy brings it by leaving. Everyone on the show disliked the guy.
there never was.
Reblogged this on Thoughts Aspew and commented:
It's kinda late to leave a show like that given that this is already looking like the fourth season. I'm amazed it actually has lasted this long in the first place.
Hi looks more and more like Marlon Brando !
II really like Chevy Chase, it bothers me a little that he is starting to look like Dick Cheney.
But Cheney never smiles.
It is a stupid, unfunny and poorly written program. No wonder the rats are jumping ship.
For those who never smoked a joint and watched the brilliant Chevy Chase on SNL, I sorely am sorry. He made us laugh like no other and when the next day came around and the buzz was killed, he still made us laugh in times that may seem different, but were just as difficult as today. Remember, you never stood in line for hours trying to get a gallon of gas even though the price was affordable. This man is an icon and if you think his rant was out of hand then you need to take a look at character. Here is a man who stood up to the disconnection he talks about and says it without publicly saying it. That is only true except for the disloyalty his producer showed by airing the message. Imagine how many times you wanted a boss to change but stupidity by someone who is totally disconnected made the decisions. Imagine a boss who was never there and seen what work you did. Just imagine. Kudos Chevy!! Go here to hear the truth. . .

what an embarrassment to everyone...what a shame....computer addiction? what chevy deals with is astounding.
why do we have hear these stupid comments since summer time that christmas coming.
up in peoples faces all the time..
Never heard of the show. But thank God I was mistaken when I saw the photo. I thought it was Dick Cheney! Almost swallowed my heart. Chevy was funny in a lopsided sort of way...I always enjoyed his brand of physical comedy. I can't see Christmas lights without thinking of him. Tchuss,, Mr. Chase.
You know you are middle-aged when you can recall that brief period way back in Chevy Chase's career when he was actually funny. I swear to God people, he actually was once, I'm not pulling your leg !
You are so right. I noticed he started becoming not funny when he first got married way back when (early 80's maybe?). I can't even believe this is the same guy who starred in FLETCH, much less the early days of SNL. I have a theory that I hate myself for even considering, but it's very rare to find a genuinely funny old man. Betty White (an old woman) is funny, but name a couple of old funny comics who are actually still funny? I can't.
John, George Carlin was funny. He was funny all through his life.
go watch tv.
he's in a show?
ugh
shut down.
The show declined very badly in its 3rd season. But 1.5 great, glorious seasons were perhaps the most we can ask for from any show.
1.5 seasons before it started to go downhill (with the occasional exception). Exactly right! I think once all the characters were introduced with all their quirks and the folly that followed, the show just started to drift downward.
His character was funny, but it's not like his exit will leave a big whole in the show. Bye
I forgot Chevy was still alive.
Thats cool, he never knew you were.
