How the Psy/MC Hammer AMAs mash-up came to be

We should've known something was up when Psy took the stage at the "American Music Awards" in a pair of Hammer pants.

The "Gangnam Style" artist had the AMAs audience on their feet doing his trademark dance when the lights suddenly dimmed and MC Hammer appeared on stage - still "Too Legit to Quit."

Younger viewers might've been a little lost when Psy stopped and went Hammer-time, as the "Too Legit" single came out just over 20 years ago. But, as the YouTube clip above proves,  Hammer hasn't lost his touch.

Backstage, Hammer told CNN that the performance came together with the aid of Justin Bieber's manager, Scooter Braun.

“Scooter Braun connected us, and [when] I spoke with Psy I knew right away that he is a good guy. I like working with good people ... I loved doing it and we had a great time together," Hammer said.

"Psy is fantastic. He's shifted the planet. He's got the whole world dancing. And it's a rarity in this world. Only four people made that happen in history - James Brown, Michael Jackson, yours truly and Psy. ”

Psy, who even cajoled Hammer into pulling on his trademark pants once again, didn't have any nerves about hitting the old-school routine.

“Honestly, I practiced his move[s] 20 years ago," Psy said. "So I’ve done that for 20 years."

Macaroni is a variety of dry pasta made with durum wheat. Elbow macaroni noodles normally do not contain eggs, (although they may be an optional ingredient) and are normally cut in short, hollow shapes; however, the term refers not to the shape of the pasta, but to the kind of dough from which the noodle is made. Although home machines exist that can make macaroni shapes, macaroni is usually made commercially by large-scale extrusion.:......

Why did the idiot in the production truck feel the need to keep doing crowd shots? Who gives a crap about the people in the audience when you have Psy and Hammer on stage?

The crowd shots show the "generational divide" - everyone sings along to "Gangnam Style," but only the older audience members sing along to "Too Legit to Quit." Contrary to what millions will tell you, there was music before Beiber - assuming you count him as making music.

So the show itself left a lot to be desired, and I have a hard time considering Bieber as Artist of the year (surely there must be an actual musician somewhere, right?), but PSY and MC tore it UP! I remember MC Hammer from childhood, and I dressed as PSY for Halloween this year, so it was the perfect combination of similar "old" and "new's". I worked late at DISH last night, but when I got home my wife told me to watch the recording. I have the Hopper from DISH, and with PrimeTime Anytime I can set it to automatically record every primetime show on all four of the big networks! I didn't even know I had it recorded, but it was a lot of fun dancing along when I watched it.

Nice of Justin Beiber's manager and PSY to recognize and throw back at us our cultures tendencies to discard and then repackage our one hit wonders.

I wish we all were snacking on burritos right now. If I was the president we would have national burrito day where everyone got free burritos. Good ones with fresh ground beef and refried beans and lots if melts cheese in it. And hundred dollar bills on the side. Stacks and stacks of them.
