While you were working ...

Today's news you might've missed:

  • After last night's game-changing episode of "Homeland," we're thrilled to hear that we've got another season of this show to look forward to after season 2 ends. [NYT]
  • In the meantime, one of our other favorite series, "Pretty Little Liars," is returning on January 8. "The Lying Game" will also be back on ABC Family that day, with "Bunheads" and "Switched at Birth" coming back on January 7. [THR]
  • Think James Franco has noted "PLL's" return date, too? Rumor has it the actor is dating "PLL" star Ashley Benson. [Page Six]
  • And while we're on this TV news kick, we'll go ahead and point out that The CW's "Arrow" has picked up a full season order. [EW]
  • Oh, and also: "Nashville," now with more Wyclef Jean. [Vulture]
  • Although Lea Michele was doing the patented "hide-the-baby-bump-with-a-bag" move in some paparazzi shots, the actress is not pregnant, she confirmed on Twitter. At least she has a sense of humor about the gossip: "My first fake pregnancy rumor! I've finally made it!" [Lea Michele's Twitter]

President Obama's advice to Jay-Z

Seeing how they're basically BFFs now, it follows that President Obama and Jay-Z would get around to talking about personal stuff, like their kids.

As Obama pointed out a recent fundraiser Jay and his wife Beyonce held for the president at Jay's 40/40 club in New York, the two men actually have a few things in common. Both of them are married to women who are more popular than they are, and both men are also fathers of girls.

'SNL' spoofs Brad Pitt, brings in big ratings

The original Chanel No. 5 commercial was funny enough, but "Saturday Night Live" of course had to join those mocking Brad Pitt's uber-serious shilling of the women's fragrance.

Taran Killam was the night's Brad Pitt lookalike, with shoulder-length locks and a scruffy beard. The "SNL" actor even matched Pitt's rambling tone as he droned on about journeys, the world turning and plans disappearing.

It all sounded very familiar, until Killam veered off:

More 'Paranormal Activity' movies on the way?

"Paranormal Activity" is slowly becoming a yearly tradition.

The franchise topped the box office in its debut weekend, pulling in $30.2 million with its fourth film, and Deadline Hollywood reports that a fifth movie is in the works. As with the rest, a rumored "Paranormal Activity 5" would arrive just in time for Halloween next year.

'Boardwalk Empire': Lock, stock and whiskey barrel

[Editor's Note: This post contains spoilers for the October 21 episode of HBO's "Boardwalk Empire."]

After last week’s action-packed episode, Sunday's “Ging Gang Goolie” was just plain weird, due mostly in part to the creepiness that is Gillian Darmody, a.k.a. Mama Jimmy.

But let me start with my boy Nucky Thompson. The storyline seems to move forward a bit when Nucky isn’t out chasing the likes of Billie Kent, and on Sunday he headed to NYC to pay off Harry Daugherty via Gaston Means.

Yet when Nucky and the third-person-referencing George Remus showed up, Means was nowhere to be found.

'Homeland': 'You're a traitor and a terrorist'

[Editor's Note: This post contains spoilers for the October 21 episode of "Homeland."]

I rewound the final four minutes of last night's episode no less than 17 times.

This edition of "Homeland," entitled "New Car Smell," opened when Saul appeared at Estes' house and personally delivered the news: A suicide bomber nearly blew up the vice president.
