Given the horrific subject matter of "Django Unchained," you'd think the movie's trailers wouldn't be so entertaining.
But this is a Quentin Tarantino movie we're talking about. The villains may be ruthless, but the heroes don't show any mercy, either.
The Western-themed film stars Jamie Foxx as former slave Django and Christoph Waltz as the German bounty hunter he teams up with to rescue his enslaved wife, Broomhilda (Kerry Washington).
At two-and-a-half minutes long, the new trailer gives a better sense of the connection between Waltz's Dr. King Schultz and Foxx's Django, and we also see much more of Leonardo DiCaprio's sadistic slave owner, Calvin Candie, and his loyal right-hand-man Stephen, played by Samuel L. Jackson.
While we're not accustomed to seeing DiCaprio play such a chillingly cruel villain, the actor seems fully committed in the clip. Jonah Hill's also on hand in the trailer to provide a bit of comic relief (you'll see what we mean around the 1:48 mark).
"Django Unchained's" scheduled to arrive in theaters December 25. What do you think of the new trailer?
