It’s a girl for Drew Barrymore and husband Will Kopelman.
“We are proud to announce the birth of our daughter, Olive Barrymore Kopelman, born September 26th, healthy, happy and welcomed by the whole family,” the couple said in a statement. “Thank you for respecting our privacy during this most special time in our lives.”
In a recent interview with Hauteliving.com, Barrymore said, “I can’t wait until I have my children.”
“I love the idea that they don’t have to do something that they have no interest in, that they can do something completely opposite if they want to,” she continued. “I will be so surprised if they don’t want to do something involving food or wine or art, but I’ll be OK with it. I just want to build fun, great things for my family.”
The actress, 37, and Kopelman, an art consultant, wed on June 2 at Barrymore’s Montecito, California home, according to People. She wore a custom Chanel gown by Lagerfeld, who said, “She knew what she wanted … and she got it. For someone who is pregnant she looked perfect.”
What do you think of the name Olive? How does it compare to the other celebrity baby names of 2012?
A baby? GROSS!
Olive oil!
From "Olive the Other Reindeer." Did anyone else see that? Love the name!! Congrats to them both.
I think, that you are mistaken. et's discuss.
and never threatens him...she's a great wife. she's not a losers ladies ..... the real women know what i mean
focus people
she has a career, she seems like a wonderful person and she has a personality that attracts people.
she's on the money, she has self esteem as a woman. she will get my respect. he is loyal to her which is what counts.
already planning the career of your baby? Honey, you better learn quick. Children are never what we think they should be–they are their own person. Me and my honey are extensive readers and we love to learn, my daughter thinks reading is akin to pouring hot coals on her eyes. Learning for her is torture. She's also an artist, although neither os us have an artistic bone in our bodies. My son is an engineer in the making. Don't try to push your own interests and personality type on your kids. Just let them be whatever they are born to be.
Could have just gone with "Olivia"...then they could use "Olive" as an optional nickname. Gives the kid a bit more leeway with their name later in life.
so like her mother.. Give the girl a males name. At least it's not so obvious as Andrew. Hopefully Olive will have a better one than Drew had...
and i feel its fine. Olive is a beautiful name.
Olive? Hate it: sounds like Popeye's girlfriend. Now, Olivia – that would have been pretty.
I'd Like to just say congrats I hope you get you desire to have a happy family. Also that you child/children grow up to do something in life they really care about .
Your outlook is a healthy one for Hollywood because you grew up in the Theater & Moivie industry you know the pitfalls . No comment on your daughters name it is your choice and I wish all 3 of you well.
...but Sweetpea, I'm notsk yer Pappy
Is this in tribute to Olive The Other Reindeer? The cartoon she voiced about 10 or more years ago?
Thats probably the best picture of her in all history. She actually doesnt look like some hippy dippy dope and actually looks hot.
dang....near 60 years old at the kids graduation......i guess the parents will be the grandparents and the grandparents will be dead.......poor kid.....sounds like a suicide is in its future
The kid wont have the opportunity to do that since we're all getting wiped out December 21st anyway.
What a horrible, hurtful thing to say. There are many women who have children in their late 30s and 40s, and frequently are better able to financially provide for their families. There are many very real pros and cons to having children earlier or later in life; I believe "likely candidate for suicide" is all in your imagination.
How silly. Some of the wisest and most genial people I know were raised by parents who were older than mine. Why would that ever drive anyone to suicide? Kids need *loving* parents, not *young* parents, and I have to say that I'm more loving toward my kids now than I was when I was younger (when they were first born) - I was too impatient and self-centered then.
Hate to burst your bubble with actual *facts* but, having children younger (before age 25) tends to result in more difficulties for the children as adults. While the likelihood for miscarriage or Down's syndrome is higher for advanced maternal age, healthy children born to older women do not suffer long-term effects, and frequently benefit because the mothers tend to be more educated (i.e. women who completed college or got advanced degrees and got their career going before focusing on starting their families.) If a mother has a child late in life, and then dies soon after, *that* can have a negative psychological impact, but even having a child in your mid-40s, most women are likely to survive to see the graduations and weddings.

People who have kids in their 20s are jumping the gun. 30s is about right in this day and age.
So, how old should she have been before she popped out her first?
Congratulations Drew and Will! Enjoy your little Olive!!!!
what is happening to her...this guy is working out for her so she should enjoy what is happening. he's committed to the relationship which is what is most important.
Compared to some of the other names out there for babies of stars, Olive is pretty tame. Congrats to Drew and Will. (BTW, it's a beautiful name.)
Yes.
Drew was the voice in the cartoon christmas show "Olive the Other Reindeer." I love Drew, I love the name Olive.
Veyr Cool! Congrats!
love drew...she comes from a very dysfunctional family yet one of the greatest actors and actresses in history.
i'm glad she has it together and had her first child! excellent!!!! i like her with this man she' looks very happy.
Good for her!!! I mean them! I hope the kid doesn't show an interest in wine too soon, but food and art are O.K.!
Can anyone say 'Shotgun!'
I think it's a pretty name, but am I the only one that noticed that her initials are "OK"?
Congrats Drew, wish you happiness on your bundle of joy. I love all your movies! You rock!
Limburger cheese should be renamed Sarah Palin cheese.
Try to be ur self
CONGRATS!! ON YOUR BABY GIRL!! GOD BLESS YOU!!! GOOD LUCK!!!
I've always liked Drew Barrymore and wish much happiness to her little family! The name Olive is pretty and feminine.
and Drew
She still looks pretty good.
Great boobs on that one, I bet they really blew up.
even at her age...if she wants one ...i'm here...lol
no matter how old she becomes.
nobody could get me that drunk and stupid....h
Congratulations to the Kopelman's! What a lovely name for a new little daughter. May the Lord bless and keep your
family always.
Oui.
Yes, yes! Once again...Godfrey Gray is precisely where the news is. My goodness, I DO hope her baby doesn't do something with wine. That's not espoused to be drankin until the wee ones gettin to be much older.
Love the name Olive (although what came to mind was Olivia). Coincidentally, it is the name of an animated reindeer character she played in the movie "Olive the Other Reindeer". Think it is a nice, not over the top name. Congratulations to the new parents!
She was hot pregnant, would have loved to bang her.
You are a loser
You are a loser "In my thoughts`
In My Thoughts...you waste the air that you breathe. Really tasteless...
I am wasting my time commenting on your comment....so I'll stop
I fapp every time I see her Cover Girl commercials.
I hear you on that one.
I'm so happy for both of them...and Drew has been a longtime favorite of mine. Olive? What is the middle name...
Congratulations drew! Very pretty and original name.
thats why they have a child
a man cannot keep his wives mouth shut by giving her sperm...it has to be for the right reasons
similar to drew and her husband.
deserves a kid...i got the offer at my age...i may just go for it. i have to make sure we are a functional couple..
not dysfunctional.
her mouth is shut for a few days
Just as long as the baby is black, I'm happy. Them white ones is too hard to keep clean. 😉
Yah Love Drew Barrymore her whole life now she has a precious little girl to give all her laove to (tear in my eyes I'm so Happy for them)
As long as the baby is white, I'm happy.
Typically two white parents have a white baby. We're you in the bathroom doing crack during biology class?
I was in the bathroom getting blown by Devara.
Personally I like older names, and I had an aunt with the name Hattie that was a wonderful beautiful person! Olive is a older name also that has class instead of flash! congrats to the whole family on this new little life!!!,
Aww. Drew's always been such a sweetie in spite of her nutty family. Congrats on the latest member of the Barrymore dynasty! Break a leg, kiddo!
i'm ready...
now time and date...
i have been here since 630am....are you there?
Why are people weighing in on what a celebrity names their baby? WHO CARES! It's the middle of a week day – GET TO WORK!
now move it.
Congrats to the new parents! Enjoy your bundle of joy.
How about Olive Oyl? Someone seems to have forgotten that name. Congratulations to Drew and her husband on their new baby girl!!!!
Congrats.
" Olive, the other reindeer"!!! I love it! Congrats!
I personally like the name OLIVE. It is a name you dont hear often anymore so sort of unique. Congrats to all. Would rather my baby girl be called Olive.... Than Blue or Pepsi.lol
Not impressed with the name – it's just so old! As are most of the celebrities' choice of baby names this year. Except for "Maxwell" perhaps...................but most are just plain old-fashioned. What happened to being current and fresh and new................Poor kids, they'll probably want to change their names when they get older.
Say's "Lolly" hope that is not YOUR real name!! What you call "older names" are lot more classy than Maxwell for a girl...Blue Ivy, Moon Unit, Inspektor Pilot! Need I say more??!!. Get a life...it's a name and not that bad.
Congratulations Drew even though I know you are not reading this but I am still going to act like you are and express my disturbed mental state by thinking I have a close relationship with every celebrity who I am on a first name basis with. Instead of leading a real life and having real friends I have devoted my life to imaginary relationships with the pretty people on the screen. XOXOXOXOX Crazy Internet Person
wonder why
Wasn't she "Olive the other reindeer" cute!
Whoopeee
I just watched E.T. last night. I think Drew & the mom are the only two in the movie that are still acting
Unfortunately Drew and the actress who played the mom are the two who should NEVER have acted again. God the mother was awful.
Olive is a beautiful name and, more importantly, isn't it great that individuals still have the right to name their baby as they choose?... Once of the few things Americans still have a right to these days! Congratulations to the happy parents Will & Drew!
Congratulations Drew and Will......and welcome to beautiful baby Olive!
Olive is a cute name. Olivia, while a pretty name, is overwhemingly common these days. Gotta be a cute kid- have always been a fan of Drew's. Had a baby this year myself so it's fun to read about this 🙂
Congrats to Drew and Will. I am so happy her baby girl Olive is doing great. Love the name for a special little girl. Drew I have been watching you for months and could not wait to hear the good news. Enjoy and cherish your new little angel.
She voiced "Olive" the Other Reindeer in a Christmas Special, I wonder if that influenced her name choice. Still, it's a nice normal and traditional name. Congrats Drew. :3
I dont care much for the name Olive, shouldve been something prettier. It is however alot better than what Tori Spelling McDermott named her 3rd baby...Hattie, thats just awful, just think how much kids will make fun of her name when she goes to school. Parents should definitely think about that when they name their children.
Congrats, Drew! Love your baby's name – Olive.
I would have liked Olivia better..... but I like the combining of their two last names. nifty.
Love Drew Barrymore and am very happy for her, but I wish she'd chosen a prettier name for her beautiful new
daughter.
great news!
