Katy Perry named Billboard's Woman of the YearThe past year has been rocky for Katy Perry's personal life, but it's been fantastic for her career. Billboard magazine will honor the "California Gurl's" achievements this November at the 2012 Billboard Women in Music event by handing Perry the Billboard Woman of the Year award.
As Billboard's editorial director, Bill Werde, points out, it hasn't yet been five years since Perry came barreling into the music industry, but in that short time she's established herself as a pop force to be reckoned with. Seven of her singles have hit No. 1 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart, and she set a record with nine of her singles going No. 1 on the Pop Songs chart. She was the first female artist to have five No. 1 songs from a single album - 2010's "Teenage Dream" - and went on to sell 2.5 million copies of that disc. "With what seems like a never-ending supply of record-breaking, chart-topping hits, coupled with her unique and fresh style, Katy Perry is hands-down one of the most exciting and inspiring artists in the industry today," Werde said. Billboard's Women in Music event will be held November 30 in New York City. |

sorry not only heard her live, heard her live performance on saturday night live, i have to say...
Katy Perry you are everything that is going wrong with the entertainment industry..
Huge song content farm to pick and choose from, designers who coordinate every single aspect of your show, hardly a singing voice with a belly aftertone and most of all the editing in your songs, my lord jesus you might as well be a robot woman!
love the jet black hair
Give my regards to Broadway,
Remember me to Herald Square;
Tell all the gang at 42nd Street,
That I will soon be there.
Whisper of how I'm yearning
To mingle with the old time throng;
Give my regards to old Broadway,
And say that I'll be there e'er long.
Give my regards to Broadway,
Remember me to Herald Square;
Tell all the gang at 42nd Street,
That I will soon be there.
Whisper of how I'm yearning
To mingle with the old time throng;
Give my regards to old Broadway,
And say that I'll be there e'er long.
Did you ever see two Yankees part upon a foreign shore?
When the good ship's just about to start for Old New York once more?
With tear dimmed eye, they say goodbye
They're friends, without a doubt;
When the man on the pier shouts, "Let them clear!"
As the ship strikes out.
Give my regards to Broadway!
Remember me to Herald Square!
Tell all the gang at Forty Second Street
That I will soon be there!
Whisper of how I'm yearning
To mingle with the old time throng!
Give my regards to Old Broadway
And say that I'll be there, 'ere long!
Give my regards to Broadway!
Remember me to Herald Square!
Tell all the gang at Forty Second Street
That I will soon be there!
Whisper of how I'm yearning
To mingle with the old time throng!
Give my regards to Old Broadway
And say that I'll be there, 'ere long!
that is one ugly woman! I hope that is just a really bad pic of her. She kind of looks like a frog with those buggy eyes of hers. Actually, she kind of looks like a guy! I guess that Sokman likes them kind of manly. lmao
she's a beautiful young gal.
Born free, as free as the wind blows
As free as the grass grows
Born free to follow your heart
[ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/a/andy_williams/born_free.html ]
Live free and beauty surrounds you
The world still astounds you
Each time you look at a star
Stay free, where no walls divide you
You're free as the roaring tide
So there's no need to hide
Born free, and life is worth living
But only worth living
'cause you're born free
(Stay free, where no walls divide you)
You're free as the roaring tide
So there's no need to hide
Born free, and life is worth living
But only worth living
'cause you're born free
Send "Born Free" Ringtone to your Cell

Congrats to Katy!!! Last year, as a special gift for my daughter's 13th b'day, we enjoyed a night out at Katy's concert! Katy had just cancelled a scheduled performance the night before stopping in our state – due to illness. Sick as can be...she put on an outstanding concert and looked beautiful! Katy has earned this award!! Keep up the excellence, Katy!!!
cuz night out...we saw katy the beginning of this year in concert. katy puts on a heck of a show and has a great voice.
"wide awake" is a great song.
Ah?..... Seriously? Women of the year?
I gotta say I have loved Katy Perry for awhile. When my little girl wanted to see her movie I kinda rolled my eyes, but I have watched worst to make my child happy. When they show the scene where she was crying over her marriage breaking up, it just broke my heart!! Then she said "Start" and went on to preform for her fans, she gain so much respect from me!! She deserves it!!
Any credibility that Billboard has just went out the window. Based on the first 2 comments it looks like Katy Perry's PR team is hard at work flooding the comment logs....
Katy Perry... My mouth is watering
I heard that happens when you get old. Just get yourself a drool rag. Don't want to offend anyone, would you? lmao
Katy Perry really deserves it! There's a fun way to add some Katy to your photos, too – check out http://riffed.it/#/challenge/2
