Robin Roberts feels the love on 'new birthday'"Good Morning America" host Robin Roberts is scheduled to have a bone marrow transplant this morning, and she'll enter the procedure enveloped by the support of fans, friends and co-workers. Roberts, who revealed that she has a rare blood disorder called myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) in June, has been in the hospital for 11 days, ABC News reported Thursday, and has been receiving chemotherapy treatment for eight.
On Tuesday, Roberts posted that the daily treatment in preparation for her transplant had begun to take its toll on her physically. "My body is so weak, but not my mind," Roberts told her viewers. "YOU give me the courage to keep going." And on the morning of her "new birthday," as some patients who receive transplants call that life-altering day, "GMA" aired a video message from Roberts in which she thanked those who've supported her throughout her health battle. "This journey is as much about the mind as it is the body," Roberts said. "Your thoughts are so powerful. You've got to change the way you think in order to change the way you feel. And let me just say this lastly: I feel the love and I thank you for it. Thank you." |

Robin, my father died of that same disease eight short years ago. At that time, only blood transfusions (starting at 1 a month to 3 a week at his death) was the only "treatment" offered.
I am so glad to hear there is new hope for those who suffer from myelodysplastic syndrome.
Thank you for bringing this to the American awareness.

I do not watch television in the morning as I am at work. I cannot say that I have had the pleasure of seeing you very often. I can say that you will do just fine and come back stronger then ever. My wife had a transplant 20 months ago and is doing just great. My prayers are with you as I have learned (but always knew) they mean so much. Modern medicine is great and so are you. God bless, you have more admirers and people who love you than you will ever know.
Robin you are the reason every morning I would watch GMA before going to work. I enjoyed your spunk,laughter and high spirits. Today is the start of a new Robin Roberts......you will be born again!
